My choice is the Viva...

Small, compact, fuel efficient....

I owned 1 last time.

I've also test driven the Myvi. And i still prefer the Viva.

But mind you, it is not a car for highways.....

Added on March 16, 2010, 11:33 pmKenari is horrible.

Viva is much better.....

BUt you have to test drive both.

8. Remarks :

Hi Folks,
I am looking for a new or used car. My budget is around RM40-55k. I will be using it mainly for work (daily-20-30 km in the city and weekend - 300km highway). My top priority is looking for a car with good safety feature, suitable for highway driving. How do these cars compared to Japanese cars (Toyota Vios and Honda City) and local car (Proton Persona) in terms of safety feature, fuel consumption and maintenance cost? Any alternative suggestions? Thanks in million smile.gif

Performance or Comfort?

Comfort > FD2

Performance > FD2R for awesome K20 series

Earning 7-8k per month, for sure u can afford them. Unless u have your own family to support wink.gif

Get the Elegance.

Because once u bought the older Persona, the value drop instantly once u got the car keys.

Of course the Elegance value drops too, but not that much compared to older model.

I've booked one unit Elegance wink.gif

The price difference is definitely bang for bucks, get the H line for more safety features like ABS,EBD and leather seat / trim drool.gif

FD2R definitely don't have the comfort like the FD2, it's a Type R ! laugh.gif

Or maybe you can try to opt for other cars?

What's your maximum budget you would spent on them?

Nope, not any rebates from them yet since it's a new car and all the price are fixed. So they can't simply give out debates and free gift.

But then, i read newspaper last night, Proton is going to giving out rebates when u test drive the new Elegance. So you try head to Proton showroom and ask..

Hope this helps.

for 100% town drive, get a viva 850cc auto. it's return a better fc and a lot easier to handle.
but if you plan to keep it for a long term with occasional long journey drive, myvi will be more comfortable.
make sure you works out on budget too coz' running a car dos require quite an extra bucks. icon_rolleyes.gif

seriously, just get a new persona and that will saved you on additional maintenance cost as in used car.
my elder sister just traded her bestari 206 for a vios due to frequent steering fluid leak and worst after sales service from naza. otherwise, quite a nice car.
chevrolet optra? getting a replacement part will be quite a headache.

Guys,

i'm looking for a car:

1. 1.6 and above
2. Manual
3. RM 30k or RM 500/ month for the next 7 yrs
4. Less than 10 year
5. Any 2 hatchback or 4 door sedan
6. New or USed - any
7. Any local or japanese brand but no continental
8. The purpose is for a a daily ride which can overtake lorries/trucks.
I just need good torque. I don't drive fast.

The only car i can think of is the waja 04 4g18p and supercharge it for rm 5k.

The key word is good torque

Anyother suggestions?

since you don't mind local car, satria gti fit your budget but this car is very high on thieves' list sweat.gif
that left you with putra 1.8 which has a lot more room for modification(either with turbo or supercharge)
compare to the very limited option available in sohc 4g18p.
else, go for waja 4g18p. and change to better 'mix and match' 1.8 engine but that will cost more than 10k!.

I was thinking of the putra but thre is not much available. And those which i checked out required a lot of money for restoration.

Satria GTIs are a bit more overpriced.

Waja was a last choice coz there are tons of them around.

What do you guys think of a 1997 Honda City? Will it be a time bomb waiting to break down since it's an old car?

Dear Sifus,

there's a car going for Rm12k with details as folows:

1. Brand : 5th Generation (97') Honda Accord recond 2002
2. New/Used/Unreg : I'd be the third owner if deal goes through
3. Specs : 2.0 Engine
4. Transmission : Auto
5. Remarks : Have talked to the mechanic that services the car. Says that it's well maintained with a solid engine.

Will be taking a look later in the afternoon for a test drive.

Any suggestions or comments?

Many thanks! biggrin.gif

alcatrez@
problem was most of the putra available in the market are badly abused. so does some satria gti.
you can check around for waja. there are quite a number of waja already converted to mivec 2.0 in the market; complete with jpj approval.

Aurora Boreali@
main concern on aged car; esp those more than 10 years old wasn't the engine alone. considering that there will be a lot of normal wear and tear ; bushes, suspension, brake rotor / pad, engine, gearbox, leakage, not to mention those under body rust which can't be seen unless the car is lifted.
if you insisted on buying, bring your mechanic / someone familiar for a test ride.

moonstone13@
the deal seems to be too good to be true. 2.0 accord at 12k is dirt cheap.
as usual, bring someone familiar with the cars for a test ride.
good luck.
