1) Studio 15 at base spec is already overkill for ur requirement...

i would suggest u either take Inspiron 15 with HD4330 for graphic, or Asus K40Ab/K50Ab... these are cheaper alternatives that would still meet ur requirement... in fact K40Ab and K50Ab get my vote...

2) High Definition Media Inteface.. .that's HDMI... basically think of it as DVI + Audio, all in 1 cable... it allows u to connect directly to LCD TV, plasma TV or projectors directly... u'll seldom see HDMI in budget laptops as a royalty needs to be paid for every HDMI port made... it was initially designed for AV equipments like DVD players, TV, audio amplifiers, etc... but somehow, found it's way into graphic cards as well after ATi and Nvidia provide hardware acceleration for HD videos using GPU...

3) Graphic card, as the name suggests, draw pictures... laugh.gif watever u see on the monitor, they are the work done by graphic cards... a good graphic card would allow u to play games smoothly at high setting, but also cost money as well... wat performance of graphic card depends on wat type of games u re playing and wat's ur expectation of graphic quality...

depends on how u define the word limited...

it's fine for normal day-to-day use... but games and stuff, u can really tell the difference...

Hi guys, I need your opinions on the specs of my soon to be new laptop.
So basically i'm gonna use this laptop for gaming and assignments.

Here are some of the programs that i'm gonna use with this laptop.

1. MS office 2007
2. Autocad
3. Pro-Engineer
4. Fluent
5. Caesar II
6. Ansys
So are the specs good enough or do i need to add more stuff?

1 of the few occasions that i dun oppose using i7 (not becuz of the price), since ur work would probably benefit from it...

go ahead with it, there's no better choice...

QUOTE(Riggo @ Nov 8 2009, 05:34 PM)
Which 1 is better between Asus k40ab and Lenovo G450 for medium gaming? games like l4d and HoN?

K40AB has better graphic card ati 4570 but weaker proc AMD x2 turion 2.1ghz and its a DDR2 lappy .. its also running hotter

Lenovo G450 has weaker graphic card which is G105m 512mb but stronger proc c2d T6600 2.2ghz and its a DDR3 lappy..

Both of them are almost same price so which lappy will be the best choice?

Asus K40Ab... nod.gif

GPU comes first as far as games are concerned...

QUOTE(nickygin @ Nov 10 2009, 06:37 PM)
Hi all. In view of the current changes and promotions, any advice on the notebooks/ netbooks that might be suitable for me?

1. Brand. - Any brand as long as it looks stylish and can get service in case it goes cacat

2. Budget - < RM 2,000 (can add a few hundred (RM 500) if really have to)

3. Specs - More for internet surfing outside the house
            - movie editing (small time) ie: edit the movies that i take with my hp/ camcorder
            - do my work ie using microsoft words and excel
            - fast (as possible)
            - store my files (music, movies, documents etc)

4. Size - somewhere around 10 inches plus minus. Mainly as long as it's not that heavy that my girlfriend cannot carry it around and not too big to look like a dinosaur sitting on Starbucks table smile.gif

Thank you all in advance.
