And how would you rate HP and Toshiba? For its laptops under 3k?

HP's Pavilion is good, but as the name suggest, High Price... not a good choice if u re looking for the best performance within a certain amount of budget...

Toshiba's business line is pretty good... not sure abt the consumer lines though...

hey all.

i have a budget of rm2500. i will be using the laptop for image editing purposes. my current laptop runs on amd (toshiba) , 2.0gb ddr and still is slow. i'm keeping my options open but it would be an added benefit if i can find laptops that have international warranty as well.

please help! thanks!

isn't image editing is more on cpu? so better get intel?

the toshiba is using hd4530, which is underclocked from hd4570.

But both just state ATI Radeon HD4570. There is no clue that its DDR3 for both Studio or L510.

well, nvidia for under 3k is not that decent,
nvidia 9600m gt is good for med gaming.
benq s42 has it, but cost rm 3250.

At your budget (approximately) the Studio 15 offers the best bang for buck factor if you are an avid gamer. Any other alternatives will see you sacrificing performance for perhaps better builds (though I think the Studio 15 already has quite a stellar construction) or warranties and the like.

Well then, it's settled. Come this weekend, I shall purchase the Dell Studio 15.
All thanks to you guys!
Just one last clarification needed; should I purchase it online? I'd rather not use Cred Cards and whatnot.
I was thinkin of just visiting a Dell outlet. Won't make any difference, will it?

I am actually thinking of getting a studio 15 or a toshiba l510.
I had already done the same homework for studio 15 where if u buy online.. u can further customize but at the outlet u take what is there (default build).
Buying Dell online provide the option of preloaded Win7 vs store which is still Vista.
Buying Dell online can be paid by cheque and TT if Credit card is not preferred.

Can someone confirm Toshiba L510 4570HD ATI card Vram is DDR3 or DDR2? Please.

The best thing about online is, apart from being very reliable, Dell offers up all their latest systems. So if you were to visit a retailer most of the laptops you are likely to find will have Vista pre-installed with the option to upgrade to Win 7. Buying direct from Dell means you get Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit right from the get go.

Though Dell does have a direct outlet, think of it as a physical version of their online store, at Mid Valley. You might have some luck checking there if you are adamant about not buying online.

@Above;
Even if the Toshiba has a GDDR3 version of the 4570, it's still more expensive and comes with less RAM to boot (2GB vs. 3GB in the Studio 15). The only reason you'd be wanting it is the brand name.
