you might want to consider Asus UL80VT, similiar spec but by default it has overclocked su7300 to 1.73GHz plus cheaper.
but for photoshop, I still recommend regular notebook for better performance if battery life is not really an issue,
benq s42 with p8700 and hybrid gpu nvidia 9600m gt and intel 4500mhd for 3k.

i had a look at fujitsu lifebook s6421 & sony vaio sr55 again. both are rather appealing. i like d designs & specs. what i'll like to know is which is more worth it buy based on specs? currently, the s6421 is rm3499 & sr55 is rm4299. if i get fujitsu, i'll definitely upgrade d ram. another thing, is the p processor faster than the t processor? pls share yours thoughts. tks!

can you list down the spec for fujitsu s6421 and vaio sr55?
if we are seeing the same spec, go with fujitsu, since your usage mostly just office, watching movies, right?
the intel gpu is fine for those usage.
Unless you need it for some gaming or graphical intensive program, go with vaio sr55.

any idea how long battery life you might need?

p series doesn't mean its faster that t series.
Its just that in maximum usage, p series can be cooler than t series, but in idle, they are pretty the same.
but do remember, faster processor doesn't make the computer respond faster, its will be noticeable only when doing cpu intensive application.
as for normal usage, any core 2 duo is capable to do it smoothly.

yup, i use it mostly for ms office, watch movies & downloads. i also need it for presentations sometime. so, prefer is the batt can last 3-4hrs.

Hi all. In view of the current changes and promotions, any advice on the notebooks/ netbooks that might be suitable for me?

1. Brand. - Any brand as long as it looks stylish and can get service in case it goes cacat

2. Budget - < RM 2,000 (can add a few hundred (RM 500) if really have to)

3. Specs - More for internet surfing outside the house
- movie editing (small time) ie: edit the movies that i take with my hp/ camcorder
- do my work ie using microsoft words and excel
- fast (as possible)
- store my files (music, movies, documents etc)

4. Size - somewhere around 10 inches plus minus. Mainly as long as it's not that heavy that my girlfriend cannot carry it around and not too big to look like a dinosaur sitting on Starbucks table

Generic office wok and web surfing? Just close your eyes and pick any netbook for ultimate mobility.

the fujitsu is enough for your usage, don't need to pay more for the vaio sr55.

But do you want to consider cheaper alternative?
such as dell inspiron 13z or asus ul30a, acer travelmate 8371, acer aspire 3810T.
they cost roughly less than 3k except acer 8371, but can achieve 6 hours++ with reasonable performance for your usage plus its lighter at 1.6-1.7kg.

Thanks for the tip. Having ran through the stalls, I've narrowed the choices down to Dell Mini 10 or the HP Mini. Now just trying to decide which would be the better one...
