I’m actually looking for a 13 or 13.3” laptop that’s not too bulky, has a non-glossy surface & comes with built-in dvd rom. I’m torn between these 5 laptops. I think their specs are about the same. My budget is abt rm3.5k-4.5k. Can anyone suggest which is better?

1. dell inspiron 13z
2. dell vostro 1320
3. fujitsu s6421
4. sony vgn-sr55gf/b
5. toshiba portege m900

Btw, what’s the difference between a wxga tft screen & a wxga led screen?

usage? any specific weight? battery life?

led is supposed to have brighter screen with less power usage.

i'll be using it more for office applications, net surfing, music & a bit of download. it should come preloaded with windows 7, weight less than 2kg & have a 4- 6 cell batt i.e. long lasting, preferably.

non-glossy surface is kinda hard, even the dell vostro 1320 lid is glossy.
toshiba m900 is not that good in battery life also weighted at 2.2kg.
sony sr55 with hd4570, for your need you wouldn't need the dedicated gpu, since its just wasting battery life and produced more heat.
fujitsu, no comment. looks like it has glossy body.
inspiron 13z, have the best battery life out of those, but performance wise is weaker than all of them, but sufficient for office and net surfing.

Thanks for ur comments...really appreciate it... i saw fujitsu & d surface is not glossy..

btw, wat's d function of d gpu on sony? is it for gaming?

i had a look at fujitsu lifebook s6421 & sony vaio sr55 again. both are rather appealing. i like d designs & specs. what i'll like to know is which is more worth it buy based on specs? currently, the s6421 is rm3499 & sr55 is rm4299. if i get fujitsu, i'll definitely upgrade d ram. another thing, is the p processor faster than the t processor? pls share yours thoughts. tks! smile.gif

can you list down the spec for fujitsu s6421 and vaio sr55?
if we are seeing the same spec, go with fujitsu, since your usage mostly just office, watching movies, right?
the intel gpu is fine for those usage.
Unless you need it for some gaming or graphical intensive program, go with vaio sr55.

any idea how long battery life you might need?

p series doesn't mean its faster that t series.
Its just that in maximum usage, p series can be cooler than t series, but in idle, they are pretty the same.
but do remember, faster processor doesn't make the computer respond faster, its will be noticeable only when doing cpu intensive application.
as for normal usage, any core 2 duo is capable to do it smoothly.

yup, i use it mostly for ms office, watch movies & downloads. i also need it for presentations sometime. so, prefer is the batt can last 3-4hrs.

here r the links 2the specs: sony vaio sr55 & fujitsu lifebook s6421

the fujitsu is enough for your usage, don't need to pay more for the vaio sr55.

But do you want to consider cheaper alternative?
such as dell inspiron 13z or asus ul30a, acer travelmate 8371, acer aspire 3810T.
they cost roughly less than 3k except acer 8371, but can achieve 6 hours++ with reasonable performance for your usage plus its lighter at 1.6-1.7kg.

tks! i'll hav a look at dell 13z then & compare it with fujitsu. i guess now it just boils down to the design.
