Greetings,
I had my Myvi for 9 months. I park my car within secure area, apartment, with security guard. my car park slot is within security house eye sight, around 100m. Yesterday night while i wanted to go to work around 8pm, i go into my car and close the door, the rear windscreen crack! I'm shocked! I try to search inside and outside my car, i couldnt found anything sharp or stone that inside my car, which could be throw by other, i suspect it was cracked, be4 i enter my car. Some of my friend tell me it could cos by the sun heat. Well, it could be as i'm parking under the sun...
I need some advice, as for now it havent happen more then 24 hours. Anyone know if this happen to some ppl as well? self crack? or coz by the sun heat? Is this covered by warranty? How much is usually the replacement for the glass? How could this happen? any other reason beside ppl hit it?
it's cracked like a thousand pieces.
I called 1800886600 for perodua, but it's holiday, somemore the hot line only working for monday to friday...
If i able to claim warranty, do i need to make a police report?
If not, i couldnt claim warranty, Is there anyone have any recommended shop nearby Equine park? or puchong?
I seriously need advices, as i'm kind of beginner of driver. Appreciate for all answers!
Thanks !!

there had a pressure while closing door, it will lead the crack too... otherwise is because the temperature between exterior and interior have a huge differences and lead the root of cracking... hence no point to claim insurance about it and loss ur NCB... the window just cost below RM100 if no mistaken... LOL. Actually, it's Non-Claim Bonus. If you don't make claim each year, your NCB rate will increase until a max of 55% or so. So you pay less for your car insurance. If for example, you already have NCB at 30%, your insurance is say RM1000. You only pay RM700. If you make a claim now, next year your NCB will be reset back to 0 and you have to pay RM1000 starting again. So if it's minor damage, it's not worth claiming, unless your NCB is very low or you don't have NCB yet.

Rear mirror dosent need to do any police report unless some theif who attempt to steal something inside your car. Yes what gkl83 had say was right, no point to claim any insurance bout it and the temperature issue.
Juz go some shop nearby to fix it. Prepare around RM200 including installation.

To TS, i just want to reconfirm. Is it rear windscreen crack? If so, it will not be rm200 for sure. Coz usually front windscreen includes labour cost rm500 or more.
And if u have insurance coverage for windscreen, please do claim it. It will not affect ur NCB. Just lodged a report and bring ur car to any workshop nearby with ur insurance company panel, it will just take few hours to fix it.
As what i read from ur post, its WINDSCREEN but not window class. Correct me if i'm wrong.

That's rear windscreen.
Check your insurance policy, whether do you have any "windscreen coverage" or not. If so, how much is the sum assured?
Else, you gonna fork out few hundred buck for it.

If u hv windscreen coverage, u can claim. Not affecting your NCB. So don't worry. Just call up your insurance and ask for procedure. Normally, take picture of broken windscreen. Send for repair. Get the receipt (u hv to pay first) Then take another photo of your windscreen. Claim from insurance company. Pls photocopy your receipt, your filled up claimed form to protect yourself.
ie. insurance company saying that they didn't receive your claim submission, or any others u can think of.

Ahsam1212, that's not the safest procedure.
Ts, call ur insurance company if u have windscreen coverage. Ask for any workshop nearby ur place, they will suggest u one of their panel workshop. And ask for documents u need to bring along. Police report and insurance policy will be one of them.

That's why i said, call your insurance company for procedure. Some company has got diff procedure. What i state is general. Most company don't need u to go panel workshop for this windscreen change. Myvi rear windscreen only few hundred bucks. Normally insurance company will ask owner to cover about RM500. Enough for the repair.
Most important thing is that u hv the windscreen coverage. Then u will save your pocket. Police report is not necessary. Don't tell me that your windscreen hit by stone also u hv to make police report and claim.
Some company only cover your front windscreen. Some cover all, front, side and rear. If your company only cover the front, then u hv to figure out how to do it.

my rear windscreen also shattered this week. no vandal sign, just shattered itself, happen during office hours, park at the same spot everyday. ask P2 for manufacture defects, they said cannot claim. P2 SC charge for glass+installation, RM390+ for UV glass, normal glass RM370+, problem is it takes 1 day for them to install, plus 2 days to order the windscreen. I replace mine at Dr.Cermin, luckily they got stock, they just take 1 hours to install the new one, and it cost me RM320/- for the UV glass.

find the insurance policy and the cover note. cover note is a summary of your insurance for the purpose of renewing your road tax.
if you have windscreen coverage, you have to call your insurance company to make sure they cover rear windscreen. most cases, the windscreen insurance covers all windows, windscreen and rear screen.
claiming from windscreen insurance does not affect your NCB.
panel workshop:maybe don't have to fork out cash.
others: get a camera, take a close snap shop of the rear screen then a far shot with your number plate inside. after repair, same shots and submit to insurance company
