Guys, I am actually thinking of upgrading my current HDTV which is an LG model 32" full HD but with a 50Mhz refresh rate. My problem is that when I play high-def games such as FF13 I notice that when I am static the scenery is fantastic but when it moves it makes me really dizzy and unable to focus properly on the scenery.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? Hence I am trying to fix it by getting something with 100MHz and above. Hopefully this will solve my woes. At the moment I am torn between two models of SHARP Aquous. I am considering either the LED or LCD version. The LED version is about RM 4,399 at the local Seng Heng in my area and the model number is LC40LE700M. Apparently this is a 40" screen. However, one of my friends have told me that this model might not be fully LED since it might be a fringe LED panel. The other LCD version is the LC46A66M and costs about RM 3,499 and is a 42" screen with full HD and 100MHz capabilities. My dilemma is the fact that LEDs seem to be the rage these days. And I am upgrading my TV for the long haul. My main purpose is of course high-def gaming (PS3) and also blue-ray with some HD movies via USB external HDD. Thanks for the input guys! I need some opinions ASAP as I plan to get it this week or the next. |

LCD will always lag. It's just the nature of LCD.

QUOTE(jitbeng @ Mar 27 2010, 10:13 AM) Maybe you should do "washing" if you have not done yet. If you have, do it for a longer period. I got a LG Plasma TV (FULL HD) which i have hook it to my B.yond, TV is now reaching 2 years old. The HBO other channel mark on the top right of the screen is quite obvious when switch off or change to other channels which not so frequently watched. How to clear it ?Mine also a few months old. Off & on more often 'on', I will 'wash' the TV after finished watching for the night. Timer setting at 90mins. Mine got no problem whatsoever. Btw my setting for Astro:- Viewing mode: Normal Contrast: 70 Brightness: -10 Sharpness: 80 Colour: 39 Colour balance: cool Colour management: off Eco mode: off P-NR: min Setup-Other settings:- Intelligence frame creation: off Power safe: on Thanks |

QUOTE(ianho @ Mar 29 2010, 04:10 PM) In the 1st place, LED LCD is still LCD. I dont even understand why so many ppl going gaga over LED. Always hear these ppl go, "WAAAAAaaaaaah! LED TV ah, very naisssssss" in the shops. LOL. Yup, the consortium of LCD manufacturers using their deep-pocket marketing $$$ has successfully brain washed the masses into thinking that it's some sort of a new offering/technology. They're milking LCD tech to the very last drop since it is very cheap to produce en mass.LED or no LED, it's still an LCD no matter what. I think these ppl think LED is some kinda alien technology or something. At the end of the day, LED is just a cash cow This post has been edited by serendipity168: Apr 3 2010, 03:32 PM |

Hi guys,
I'm new to Plasma, been using LCD for 3 years and now planning to get a 42" Plasma, mostly for TV, movies & Worldcup. Sorry first if I post on the wrong section. After some eyes washing at few electrical shops, I narrow down to Samsung PS42C450 & Panasonic P42X28K but really cannot decide, so need some advice & experience sharing from sifu here: 1. Which one has less glare / reflection issue? 2. PQ? 3. USB support format? 4. I read somewhere about black-level issue about Pana, does this affect P42X28K here in Malaysia? Is it so significant & noticeable ? http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1167339 Thanks in advance! |

Sammy LED backlit LCDs are out in the states. The interesting thing is unless I am wrong, their top of the line is a local dimming Edge Lit LCD....I was always under the impression that u could only do local dimming if the backlight is directly behind the LCD. I was wrong. CNET US has a review and it does not look that great. So to the handful that have the Sammy A950 backlit sets, it will be some time before Sammy releases one that is in the same league I think. |

Burn in issues in Samsung and LG's plasma together with Panny's black level problems, should i jump ship to LCD/LED backlight TVs?
50"++ got LCDs cost a bomb, even more if LED backlights, right now plasma 50"++ are much cheaper, so this is the dilemma i face And btw, i really hated the Transformers 2 in 100HZ.It really sucked(to me) because it looks damn fake.Playing it on my laptop with lower HZ is so much better |

Hi to Plasma TV sifu,
I bought a Samsung PS42C450 for my 1st Plasma experience and waiting for delivery. Recently I read somewhere talk about break-in for new Plasma TV: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=583089 I'm not a LCD/Plasma expert but I'm really getting very confused and really need some expert advice / comment: 1. should I still do the break-in for new Plasma TV? (note: some suggest no need some yes still need ....) 2. if yes still need to break-in, then: - is it better to use the USB jpeg picture or DVD playback? - set min or max contrast? - should I run it continuously (non-stop) for 200~250 hours straight (9~10days)? - if only accumulation, is it better not to watch anything until reach total break-in hours? Thanks in advance! |

QUOTE(klseet @ Apr 12 2010, 05:35 PM) Hi to Plasma TV sifu, Hi there, I would suggest lower the contrast ( you can google online for some run-in settings for your TV ) and avoid dynamic modes and just watch normal 4:3 content until after the 150hour mark. That's what I did with my TV. I bought a Samsung PS42C450 for my 1st Plasma experience and waiting for delivery. Just got the TV, it seem like Sammy has lot's of setting (as least compare to my current Regza LCD) for this entry level Plasma, or may be all Plasma is like that need to do a lot of setting ?!
I download the DVD image from : http://www.eaprogramming.com/ then use Nero to burn into DVD and run it through DVD HDMI with the following setting: Mode=Movie Cell Light=8 Contrast=50 Brightness=10 Sharpness=0 Colour=25 Tint=G50/R50 Black Tone, Dynamic Contrast =Off Gamma=0 RGB Only Mode=Off Colour Space=Native White Balance=20 for all (original was 25 for all) Flesh Tone=0 Colour Tone=Warm2 Size=16:9 Digital & MPEG Noise Filter=Off Screen Burn Protection=On (I didn't change anything here) Honestly, I'm not sure whether the above setting is alright or not, really hope some sifu can comment/suggest further.
