just wait until motorola releases it. anyway, milestone is still a cheap smartphone (if u buy 2nd hand lah) considering the hardware it has and not to forget the build quality. i sold my iphone 3g and bought this phone with few hundred ringgit to spare. not to forget milestone is superior to i3g.
still no news about froyo yet... |

Tested with otterbox, no problem also. Maybe it only occurs to metal casings that can block the radio signal.
I agree on the fingerprint scanner and touchpad thing. First ppl thought its a fingerprint scannner, then if I say its not after that they thought its a touchpad by rubbing on it And some ppl dunno how to unlock the phone, so I guess we can bluff them by saying it will only unlockable by the user's fingerprint |

Nice stuff there, but i dont like carrying extra thing when replying sms, thats why i prefer a full blown case instead. Never been a fan of holster as well, apart from easy target for snatch thief im afraid it would scratch the phone when used for a long time.

QUOTE(Ivangile @ Jun 6 2010, 02:50 PM) Hi everybody, i am about to receive my first android phone(MS!!-a singapore unit comes with eclair) This post has been edited by sanosizo: Jun 6 2010, 09:06 PMAs I read through many reviews and all the thread (for 100++ pages @.@), here are some of my doubts. 1) Root - Yes Is this the one that made us like admin in computer to be able to access all the thing in MS? 2) Flash Rom - Milestone is locked not like Droid so custom rom not possible This can only be done if we rooted our phone? IF my phone is singapore unit, my room will be in singapore rom and i can only receive the update via Singapore? 3) Installing Apps - depends on the app itself I guess, should be fine, probably can compare like having iphone3g If i do not plan to root my phone (at least <1 year), will the memory not enough for moderate users? 4) Internet Access - we can choose to use wifi/gprs/3g as we like Did there any apps that only enable MS to use only wifi but not others like gprs? I can easily gain access to wifi, so do not need gprs or others to drain my money. 6) Hidden Process - android has its own memory control, but we can use task killer to selectively kill process Apps in MS seem continue to be in process even we exist. So, the solution is to download the TaskKiller to kill every process? 7) Backup - not sure abt this, nandroid do backup the whole system, just don't mess with the system files & it will be fine Is it recommended to backup the whole system before we install any program? The backup program i heard is Nandroid, is it right? If phone went wrong, then just backup will be okay? 8) Flash - have to wait for froyo then if flash is really important to u I heard flash player is not supported by the browser, so we have to open youtube apps to watch video everytime? What if the video is not from youtube?! 9) Bugssss!!! - my alarm is working fine so far -MS alarm is not functioning well? Is this bug affect every phone? Is it expected to be fixed in the release of froyo(will ms even be updated with froyo!!?) -I heard the camera quality is really not good even compare to a 3.2mp phone? Will it be fixed? - if the lighting is good then the quality is fine. U shud see the video quality it produces as well -The music will play itself after we unplug our earphone? - this is a bug, quick fix is to clear music app data & never use it again. I use a diff music player -I heard there are cases of auto-reboot, is this happen only if we install new apps? What is a factory-reset mean? Is it reset to the state i bought my phone which mean will delete the update too? - I never experience auto reboot, not sure abt factory reset Last but not least, what is the basic knowledge should one knows about this phone? - coming from iphone user, using android is like using a pc, iphone is more simplified and easy to use but for android, once u get the hang of it, it will be fine. Like I said, its like using a pc. Sometimes u do face issues that need some googling. |

Yes u can disable them. There are a lot of widgets in the market that we can use to quickly toggle them on or off.

Just wanna share with u guys, if u are browsing in a big website using the physical keyboard, u can scroll up n down faster by holding space to scroll down and shift-space to go up.
No function yet for undo i think, and cut n paste also not very nice compared to iphone. But as we know google, they listen to user's request and it may be improved in future updates. |

motonav is quite ok, its just that the map coverage is not that good. recalculating route is very fast and the voice instructions are clear.

I dont think android support adhoc wifi yet, its a convenience to have this feature, not sure if its enabled in froyo. The point of using adhoc wifi is so that u can move around and still have connection. I use that a lot when i was using iphone
Instead of papago, use the built in motonav. For europe the map is quite good, lots of gps users in europe so maps are always updated. |

Google earth is not a proper navigation software. Its just another way of seeing the world other than google maps. Have u guys used motonav? Its quite good actually, since it doesnt require data connection, battery can last longer compared to google maps.

From a full charge yesterday morning, i did some light browsing (lyn, fb, email) on edge connection, few sms and calls, now the battery has 70% left. For me that is acceptable.
Btw, I always disable data connection when not using it. |

i run it at stock speed and always turn off the screen when not in use. i didnt turn off the phone at night and use daily alarm at 6am. as of today, the battery went down to 20% at 8am. basically i can conclude that, for light usage it can go two days with a full charge.

QUOTE(under18 @ Jun 10 2010, 07:32 PM) go back a few pages. some1 has posted a link for all the maps. after download, put the *.fbl file inside map folder of motonav in your sdcard. and put other files (poi) to their respective folders as well. |

i've never experience this problem as well. normally i put the phone (speaker part) flat to my ear, this will cover the proximity sensor thus it will turn off the screen.

QUOTE(Ivangile @ Jun 11 2010, 11:26 PM) Try using the volume control to zoom. If cannot then use a different app, for example Pro Zoom Camera.Btw, I can only send mms to myself. Cannot receive from others Added on June 12, 2010, 2:25 amIve also tested both motonav n gmaps (brut) today, while riding my bike. Using earphone and depend solely on the voice navigation. Both performed very well indeed and i managed to reach my destinations. Motonav does not say the road name but gmaps does. Just imagine a mat saleh reading roadsigns in malay. Using motonav i start from puchong to jalan kg pandan, deliberately miss some junctions to see how it recalculates the routes, seems working good and fast, i get the next direction in just a few seconds. From jln kg pandan i set for crown regency hotel using gmaps. The voice lady struggles to pronounce the road names so u have to listen carefully or turn up the volume a bit. I still managed to reach the place. Motonav does not require internet but setting the destination is quite tricky becos the keypad will only allow you to type names that exist in the stored maps. It took me quite some time to find the address or places that i wanna go. As for gmaps, searching for location is easy. Just select my location then directions then set where u wanna go. The downside is of course u need active internet connection. Another thing is u cannot lock the phone to use them, it always need to be the foreground app, so if using gmaps and u want to travel quite far, the phone might be dead before u actually reach your destination. Oh, and if u get a phone call in the middle of navigating, the app will auto continue which is nice when your phone is in the pocket This post has been edited by sanosizo: Jun 12 2010, 02:25 AM |
