my phone is now running at 800MHz. straightly can see the difference when opening media gallery.

at stock 550MHz, image list displayed quite slow.

at 800MHz, it is displayed instantly. my impression? just wow!! seems everything responses quickly, this is how milestone should be = fast biggrin.gif

Google just released froyo few days ago. I think we can expect to get the update within a month or two.

Nexus 1 is a google phone, for sure it gets the latest update earlier than others. As for milestone, we actually just received 2.1 from motorola few months ago. Since milestone is locked, we may need to wait for a while to get froyo sad.gif

Otterbox case sounds good for protecting our phone, gonna get it probably next week.

Anyway, today managed to remove some unwanted apps like fb, corporate calendar n motonav. Dont like them taking up the memory space.

where did u get the papago from?

btw, today i found out something. apparently u can play 2 songs simultaneously by using the player and then press the button on the earphone. thats too much multitasking if u ask me tongue.gif

It will be super hot if u enable 3g or hsdpa. Right now im using edge with my ms running at 800mhz, no heat issue at all. But once enable 3g, feels like the phone gonna blow biggrin.gif

Another complaint is the usb port placement, its a bit tricky to use landscape mode while charging the phone.

MS screen is very bright at night even set to the lowest setting, compared to iphone. this probably explain why the battery depleted so fast. the led flash is even brighter, can replace a normal flashlight. if u download an app called 'quick setting', u can even send morse code (at night) with it.

they should fix the crystal talk problem to all country versions. its weird to hear your own voice when talking to other ppl. currently i put a finger on the back mic to fix this issue tongue.gif

actually the crystal talk was working fine in android 2.0, but got messed up in 2.1. not sure what actually happened but selecting any of the options in the menu does not give any difference. if u look at the back at the phone, there is a small gap near the earphone jack. try covering it with your finger and hear the difference.

at the moment i use taskpanel. cannot say this is the best but i like it.

Having a ringer toggle widget is quite handy to put the phone into silent or vibrate mode but i still prefer the physical switch like in iphone. Can set the phone to vibrate without having to look at the screen.

Some free apps have ads and some dont, but for apps with ads in it they normally connect to the internet, so it might telan your credit.

go to settings - about phone - firmware configuration

not sure how accurate this is but if it looks like this GAS_EMEA_USAxxxxINT_Pxxx - then its international (INT)

GB - UK
EU - other european countries maybe?

the official fb app in android is not as good as the iphone version. thus, i uninstalled it and use the full web version instead.

I've rooted mine but i havent use apps2sd yet. Thats not the main reason for me to root. Anyway there are a lot of reference or reasons for getting root. You just need to read more.

Ya its a bit pricey but considering the fact that it can protect a much more pricey thing, I'm willing to spend. Good thing about the case is it has rubber layer inside it to absorb the shock and also prevent scratches from inside.
The downside of it would be the size n weight of the phone. When I show it to my frens, they thought its a gps device. But for me, I rather think its a brick tongue.gif

where's the screen protector link? tongue.gif

to be honest, i believe otterbox case is the best protection u can get at the moment. (outside polycarbonate, inside rubber, buttons n ports covered with rubber) there are other cases available and cheaper but when u compare the material and built quality between them, otterbox is the best.

actually i dont do much after rooting the phone. i just overclock the phone to 800MHz, removed some system (preinstalled) apps to free phone memory and created a 128MB swap file to make the phone a bit faster. after that not much modding actually because im not a linux guy. maybe its a good decision to wait for froyo since its already confirmed coming to milestone in the future.

but if u want some adventure, then head on to - http://modmymobile.com/forums/401-motorola...e-recovery.html

previously in 2.0 getting root was simply running the update.zip file from the bootloader screen. after 2.1 its not possible so we have to flash the new ramloader to make it work. we need to flash it with rsdlite program.

once that complete (rsdlite say PASS) then continue here - http://modmymobile.com/forums/401-motorola...-07-2010-a.html

just download the file and copy the open recovery folder and update.zip (if im not mistaken) into the root folder of your sdcard. after that just reboot the phone into recovery mode, u should get the open recovery menu. u can do nandroid backup from here, apply update to root the phone, reboot etc. make sure to do the nandroid backup just in case smile.gif

actually having a physical keyboard is quite nice. u get full screen of website when typing and then i discover that when i use the phone while laying down (holding phone up), i can rest my fingers by putting my thumbs between the keyboard and the screen.

eventho milestone has only 256mb of ram, its actually quite fast. and u can add swap file to improve it (only if u have rooted the phone).
