May not work with Milestone because unlike Droid, the bootloader is protected. I'm not aware of the latest developments regarding bootloader work-around so it may not work.

The 2.1 upgrade has nice perks, also feels that Moto is making an effort to give good support. Now, the SD seems to be recognized by more apps but how can I really move the apps out of main memory into the SD? (My unit not rooted.)

What does the "Scenes" in the camera do? I have trouble switching it to test.

How can I group contacts, how to use the "System Groups" ?

It depends. ROM in its own context is general. But in Milestone case, we have to consider the bootloader and signed ROMs. That is the reason. You can flash the entire package (SBF) from one version/region to the other as long as it is made for the Milestone. No one tried Milestone ROM on Droid though. But confirm Droid ROM into Milestone will not work.
