QUOTE(lee_what2004 @ Nov 11 2009, 10:06 PM) yeah, told him to do so already. No operating system DVD sounds fishy but seeing as the store folks did the OS upgrade for your friend, they might have accidentally left out the disk. Thats pretty sloppy considering that they didn't test the boot-ups properly too. Not Dell's fault on that XD. Anyway as many people mentioned, you can contact dell anytime either by phone or email to ask for DVDs. I requested a copy of Fastaccess disk before. first, its not mine, my friend bought it. He bought at one shop at lowyat, I don't have the details. he bought it at rm 4199, he can't wait for the delivery time, shame that the online price for today is rm 3899 The biggest improvements I found over Vista besides nicer eye candy is really much quicker boot up, faster overall (menus, function, loads etc.. every mili-second counts! XD) performance and less bugging from the UAC for every copy and paste activity Vista always felt sluggish to me.. |

QUOTE(kheechun @ Nov 11 2009, 08:23 PM) yeah, Dell Direct gives all the installations discs. If not provided, we can request, and they'll send it for free, I don't think the policy has changed recently. The practice of installing the recovery partition had been used by many other manufacturers like HP, Acer... since many many years ago, like early 2000, but Dell? no. FYI Dell does have the recovery partition too. But they also provide the recovery discs for ultimate redundancy. A huge plus in my book. For those who do not have the discs, may I know where and when did you buy your XPS? Oh, and the problem with missing OS or other recovery discs is why I don't generally encourage people to buy from third party retailers in the first place. Sorry, forgot there's a recovery partition in the newer Dells, because I cleared that partition for extra space quite soon, so the recovery discs comes very handy to me Oh, and the problem with missing OS or other recovery discs is why I don't generally encourage people to buy from third party retailers in the first place. You're right, I also don't encourage people to buy from 3rd party retailers, unless they need it urgent, |

Hey guys, i jz back home and did a "Upgrade" to windows 7 ... Lazy to clean install...
My stuff is just too much.. Anyway it run very smooth... as i use RC version b4 on my desktop.. I'm havin problem with the sound... but now solve... not sure is temporary or not.. I didn't know whats happen, i was plug in my headphone and start test music, sound, game,.. whatever it is.. then after i satisfied with it.. I unplug my headphone, but no sound coming out from the laptop speaker... I can see the sound visualization still movin.. then i plug my headphone again.. the sound did come out from headphone... Dunno whats wrong with it.. after restart many time.. and enable/disable sound device.. still the same... Thus, i search the web, and i found some ppl facing the same problem.. and the solution is, 1. Play any music you like 2. Go to Playback device, right click the default speaker, click Configure speaker. 3. choose Quadraphonic or 5.1 Surround, then click Test.. (click yes, when prompt that other application is using the device) 4. choose back Stereo, and Test again.. 5. Unplug headphone... Finally, the sound back to laptop speaker... I'm not sure this is permanent solution or temporary solution... This post has been edited by shinichi88: Nov 12 2009, 08:41 AM |
