they r good at different things. amd and intel.

probably i would say ( juz an assumption) roughly a 1.7ghz of C2D vs 2.1ghz of AMD

the low memory latency and high memory bandwidth are sth which Core 2 cannot match at all...

in terms of pure processing power, probably like a T4000, but in terms of response and memory , it can out-perform T9000 easily...

not sure abt K40 and K50, but K51Tp's successor is probably N60Dp... Turion II with HD4670 and HD4200...

My friends got source said that K51AB with HD48XX will cost few hundred more. But may not be available to Malaysian market.

K51Ac??? on Asus Global website never show wat GPU it uses... only know the graphic driver is AMD...

I fed up with the low fan speed and started to measure the fan voltage, it turns out the maximum voltage is 5V, exactly the same as what USB is supplied, easy task for me

I tap the fan power connector and connect it to USB via a thin single core wire (no soldering and cutting required) and it runs unbelivably cool even when playing Crysis! I trying it now, it wont even reach 60C even with GPU clocked to 725/615MHz when I alt-tab to Windows. Its noisy of course, but now this laptop is ready for heavy gaming

@najmods : i hope ure somewhere in klang valley coz i think if i finally got my hands on this Kseries, I need ur expertise hahaha

Yes, I am in Klang Valley, but I'm at University in weekdays (and not online most of the time). And indeed I using Windows 7 on it, it can use the Vista driver no problem at all, you just enable compatibility to Vista and it works like a charm. Performance is great, no issue at all

why not using Windows 7 driver provided by Asus, because i having problem installing vista driver coming from asus dvd. But windows 7 driver downloaded from asus website works like a condom. Everything except power-xpress faulty when runs on battery.

For win 7
i tried both driver from net n cd, mostly same..
if want to use from cd either do manually or.. set the asus setup.exe as compatibility mode using vista SP1/2..

right click mouse >> properties >> compatibility tab >> tick run this program in compatibility mode >> select windows vista

only the vga i can't use powerXpress...
bad idea though coz in vista i can use almost 3hours by using 3200..
but dgpu around 1+ hour..
