No, why do you need to flash the BIOS? And no software could monitor its speed or control it, because it doesn't connected to the motherboard anymore. Common sense isn't it? If its not connected then how to control the fan speed? That is where the resistor comes in, its better if you have variable resistor to change fan speed on the fly but its too much hassle, just pick 5-7 ohm for the best balance between cooling and fan noise

One thing, I did read your initial post carefully, and I guess what I'm wondering is not what normal temperatures are -- I know into 80C is pretty normal -- but how dangerous being over 90C for extended periods is, what with NSProbe yelling "Fatal!"

I will definitely see about trying to clean it out with compressed air.

Could have sworn HWMonitor could control fan speeds, but it's been a long time since I used it. May try it today to see how it goes. I've also thought of contacting the SpeedFan creator, to see what information he needs to be able to get the program to read the fan.

Try to reserve around 20 Gb for your Ubuntu partition, that should be ample for almost all your needs.

1: when i wanna decrease the brightness using the "FN"+"F5" or "F6" button, it doesnt give any effect on the screen.. why?
but when i restart my lappy, i turn like what i want b4..

so here, my question is, is it normal? so, i need to restart all the time once i wanna decrease the brightness? or is/are there any solution 4 that?
my fren told me, i need to do something with bios.. is it true??

if it is so, how could i do that? guide me please.. tq..

Install ATKOSD driver from the CD to enable that, or maybe you don't update to the latest BIOS yet. The initial BIOS will do that in dGPU mode. Read the 1st page thoroughly, I even include instruction how to update BIOS

You could install XP on this laptop, download the driver from 1st page but what's the point? Windows 7 is far better

i felt win 7 is not pretty good for me.. coz i cannot use the window media maker.. hehe.. do you have any suggestion that might be the same as media maker like in vista and xp?? coz 4 win 7, they do not provide it.. huhu.. thanks for your kindness to help me.. thanks again..

i just found out the solution to solve if after install the new 10.5 driver when wake up from sleep mode the screen does not appear.just close the lid and open back the screen back on.. lol >.<lll

I found out that if we close the lid for too long then open it back, the screen doesn't appear also. For me, i use ALT+CRT+DEL to bring the screen back. Its useful for people who use close lid as sleep mode, hope this help.

long time didnt drop by...

been using my k40ab for almost a year already.. standing strong hehe...am satisfied with the GPU also, as im a casual gamer.. so far never really frustrate me.

although all the happiness, i have this something that bothers me...the LCD.

the LCD tends to blink2 with the showing of some colorful lines at random position of my LCD (Vertically) u know..like screen rosak2..it happens almost everytime i move the LCD lid downwards/upwards(like when starting the laptop or moving for angles) and at random times too, it just does that although the LCD isnt moved by anyone..

any solution for this? or shud i jz send it to royal club?

owh man i'm afraid the panel cable got prob etc..

what i noticed ppl tend to flip the panel by grabbing the panel edge.. sometimes the panel got stressed and bend a little..

i always prevent that with a good practice by holding @ the center part of the top panel bar..

u mean the middle part that connects the LCD and the board?

i usually will flip the edge of the screen to open it... didnt know the method can cause this

if like that, the only way to fix this is to send back to SC?

if still have warranty better send it before it's too late..
all lappy should like that.. there are fragile @ that hinge and panel..

thus must put extra caution while fold it..
especially the big screen like k50ab, there are prone to bend if open/close from the side..

a question here, why my k50ab keep on saying that "The drivers for this device are not installed.(Code 28) on my device manager.

After i restarted my lappy, it gone black screen when coming to window..

I'm installing window XP tho.. tried to upgrade BIOS to 220, but it seems to be useless and doesnt solve the problem.. any advices?

one part of my k40ab LCD already black out.. but still can be seen clearly, but its been a dim...
