Wierd, recently installed Windows 7, but when installing ATI 863100 drivers from ASUS itself, CCC cannot launch...

Anyone faced such a problem?

It is powerxpress.

And an additional problem, when running Warcraft III : Frozen Throne, the display is boxed and does not fill the screen...

Found the registry solution for Warcraft III : Frozen Throne,

Merely navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\Warcraft III\Video and change resheight and reswidth to 768 and 1366 respectively. (Decimal not hexadecimal)

Is the new 10.3 driver working well? Because i tried to installed it in both dGPU and powerxpress mode after modding with mobility modder and it gave an error that the graphic driver cannot be update. I used driver sweeper to clear away the existing driver but the installation after that gave the same error message...

[Edited] Sorry, I have just gone through the previous posts. Seems I got myself the official 10.3. Will change to the mobility one...

Try to reserve around 20 Gb for your Ubuntu partition, that should be ample for almost all your needs.

Guide to Dual Booting can be found by Googling a little...

But first, you need to burn your Ubuntu 10.4 into a live disk.

Then, you can refer to this link:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WindowsDualBoot

or look up on Google for other guides.

Good luck, it's not that hard actually javascript:emoticon(':D')

Hi guys smile.gif It's been some time since I last read this topic, but I've tried to follow it closely. Has anyone here tried to use a sdhc memory card with the k50ab integrated card reader? On the asus site it says it only supports sd/mmc/ms but not sdhc so I'm curious if it works or not. I'm planning to buy a digital camera with an 16 gig sdhc card which I also want to use to move files between my laptop and desktop pc. worst case i'll buy an usb card reader, but it's not the same tongue.gif

Hi, i'm currently using a Kingmax SDHC 4GB card with the integrated card reader, it works perfectly, so don't worry, I think it will work fine.

Hi, may i ask how to tighten the lcd screw ?
There's some cracking noise whenever i open up my lcd.
Thanks.
Btw, heating problem is getting serious in my lappy, bios problem ?
Playing cabal alone will also cause the gpu overheat and shutdown/restart my lappy. Knew it from the event viewer. Idle temp for gpu is around 80C (non air-conditioner) but im using fan+cooler.

You can try the fan mod as suggested by Najmod (A residential sifu here) or alternatively can try this...

I am currently using Coolermaster Notepal X-2 cooling pad,, unscrew the bottom cover of your laptop, and lay it bare on top of the cooler. With the cooler on at room condition, my current core temperature (Internet browsing) is 65C and when playing Warcraft 3, it is at 80C, monitored using Coretemp.

Yep, temp can shoot up to 97 degrees when gaming with back cover on, but generally if back cover off + cooling pad below it will be at average 75 degrees. A nice laptop for its time, and is still functioning well, no hiccups for 20 months++

Crysis 2 can play if 640x480 graphic settings as minimum as possible. Dead Space 2 have not tried. Do be aware of the CPU temperature as it might spike when playing.

The best way to clean is to completely disassemble the heatsink from the board, then opening it up. If you have a look inside, most likely you will see a thick film of dust inside the heatsink. Remove that film of dust which has been blocking the airflow and change the thermal paste. You will definitely see a huge difference in temperature.

For instance, my CPU temperature, monitored with CoreTemp32 has seen the full load temperature at 97 degrees, now it has dropped back to 83 degrees full load.

I bid goodbye to my ASUS K50AB, which has served me well, on 06/03/2012, when I was involved in a road accident and the LCD screen cracked...
