Hi to all pro over here...im using Asus K40AB laptop installed Window7 recently i met a problem....which when i turn-on my laptop it running to window login screen quite along time...sumtime jus stuck at the asus loading screen...

any1 noe y tis happened?izzit software problem or hardware?

when the battery v 99%available the charging light always ON it cant b turn off....however if i took off the cable electric supply left it v battery the light goes off & same as when i took off the battery n pugged in v cable the light off too~

anyway, is it normal to just go to imbi asus centre and say i want to have my laptop fan cleaned? as well as fixing my LCD issue? im still under warranty...

about warranty hor..i wan ask, since the day i bought my k40ab, i never filled any forms nor register my unit online or whatever...

coz i think the salesman i bought this unit from lowyat plaza that time say, no nid register anything, when got problem jz bring to centre as they will verify my laptop's serial number for reference ...is that correct?

Hi guys,
i had format my lappy to win7 64bit from 32bit.
But after several days,I got this kind of problem with my catalyst,currently using 10.3.
1.my refresh rate is displaying 59hz instead of 60hz,even after i changed it to 60hz in catalsyt,it will revert back to 59hz.
2.i cant access the configure section in the desktops & displays.when clicked,it went back to the start page of catalyst..last time this configure section is for image scaling and i've already done it..

i've tried reinstall catalyst but still the same..anyone got the same problem here?

Try to change to newer driver or latest one. The 10.3 on the first page is not the latest one

On Bios 222 now, fan bug is gone, startup fast fan spin is gone.

Others remain the same. The fan still spin the same rate as before even when system temperature goes high.

Even worse eh? My k40AB still going strong (of course, been running at good fan speed and reapplied thermal paste )

I've been playing some old games, like Star Wars KoTOR II and Star Wars EaW. Runs great. I still hope to buy a Turion X2 Ultra ZM-84.

Not yet, but i prefer the loud fan noise during startup. Can feel the laptop alive. Lol

my k50ab heat reach 90C when i'm surfing and listen to music...

if i play Starcraft II it can reach almost 96C...

i guest the internal of my laptop is dusty... but i just guest it...

I must say I am so glad I found this forum.

I am the proud owner of a K50AB or otherwise I wouldn't have had any reason for posting here ( besides owning a K40 ... ).

I am running W7 x86, 220 bios.

The problems that I am currently having with it:

- I cannot manage to get my fans to work as intended - I think Asus designers were on crack when building this model
- I cannot get any video drivers past 0.3 to actually work ( modded or not ) - If someone is so kind as to link me with some 0.6 or 0.7 drivers that work
- I cannot find the right drivers for the sound card ( W7 installs some drivers that work but there must be some better drivers )
- the speakers aren't that loud ( had anyone figured out if there is something that can be done to work around it ? )
- I managed to get 98 C on my procs while playing Heroes 5 while using some unknown cooling pad from Titan


There are some more issues but the primary concern is the fan. I've seen someone that bypassed the blue wire but I am not so sure about pulling a stunt like that. I would rather try and find some software fixes.

Any luck ?
