Actually should be the other way, 2.5" is more reliable because it's meant to be mobile. But anyway, I suspect we are getting 2nd grade HDD here in Malaysia especially Seagate.

no ah... used Maxtor, WD and Seagate.. all never seems to last compared to my 3.5" sweat.gif

Hi Yangxi, it is not the price problem but it is the service that they can provide. We used to bring in a lot of cheap china brand products but they can't provide the further service like firmware upgrade and prompt RMA service. At the end, we choose those provide good service after sales service. We found out that A.C.Ryan and Mede8er both are very promising company until now.

1. How long they can support firmware, even the model discontinue? After 1 year?
2. Our policy: Accessory defects replace on the spot. Main unit defects replace within 1 week, if stock available. Within 3 weeks if out of stock.

Btw, although the core is same but you cannot cross-fimware flashing. Pls read below link:

Thanks.

There are different type of buyers for this type of item. Cheapest price possible with minimum warranty. Pay extra & get premium service. Both also have their merits. Sometime before the warranty runs out the item already obsolete especially those that likes to upgarde to the most current model. But those that intends to use for a couple of years, warranty/service is more important.

who's asking you to cross flash? each manufacturer has their own firmware support.. if you stick to the main brands (which some of them are selling here) it should be fine..

as for firmware support length of time.. well after 2-3years, just get a new media player.. important thing is dun spend 2x the amount and later get stuck with old chip and hardware... pay half price and change players every 2years is better than paying twice more now and stuck with it..
