Another announcement from Genting last night : http://info.sgx.com/webcoranncatth.nsf/VwA...pdf?openelement
Two reasons so far for possiblities of the selldown :- 1) Tan Hee Teck selling away 900 lots and 2) the above announcement to the SGX. |

Wlcling, win or lose, I think you are doing us a very big favour here by posting your trades, and you are really helping a lot of us in understanding the trading world. There is nothing to be concerned about in the results of your trades, what that matters is you are helping to contribute a very important lesson here for all of us.
I'm sure many others here are of the same opinion, we are learning FROM YOU. No one else would do what you are doing, perhaps for fear of showing to others if they are losing, yeah, if they are winning, then they would show, such double standards. But not someone like yourself with better principles in life. I, for one, appreciate what you are doing. I do hope you will not stop posting your trades here. We are all learning from your effort here. A big thank you to you too. |

QUOTE(teoanne @ Oct 28 2010, 01:45 PM) i agree, wcling you should keep posting your trades. you are an inspiration to some of us. there is also one malaysian blogger who does so - samgang, and he has the respect of all his followers. Anne, thank you for the support. I'm sure Ling will appreciate it.you might be worried about being blamed by others, but don't worry, all investors or traders worth their mettle will do their own homework before trading. and it is their own fault if they don't. your guts has my respect and i hope you can keep it up |

QUOTE(almeizer @ Nov 9 2010, 02:59 PM) RM50 for local brokerage fee, how about singapore brokerage fee? Guys,... if you intend to open a brokerage account in Sgp, and cost is the main criteria, then look no further, at this moment, the cheapest is : DBS Vickers : ONLY SGD 18.00 per transaction, or 0.18%, whichever is higher.Well, CIMB rate is 0.42% (min sgd28) for online trading and 0.1% for local charges. Overall minimum charges about RM 70 per transaction (after convert). You can follow the CIMB thread at http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/849298/+580 Or PM my remisier for opening account. http://forum.lowyat.net/user/Remng But you must have a DBS Internet Banking Account to be able to work with this "cheap account" - we call it the Cash Upfront Account. I am not an employee of DBSV, just helping out you guys to find better brokerage charges only. |

Saw quite come concerns heresince this morning. I always say, one good way to mitigate emotional distractions is by taking a few analysts' views, provided there are sufficient analysts providing coverage.
Things could be worse if no analysts provided coverage. Comments this morning on GenSP, in summarised form from analysts here :- 1) Raised To Buy From Outperform and Target Raised To S$2.93 From S$2.06 By Daiwa 2) Target Raised To S$2.65 From S$1.68 By Credit Suisse 3) Cut To Neutral From Overweight and Target Raised To S$2 From S$1.55 By JPMorgan 4) Target Raised To S$2.75 From S$2.45 By Citigroup And a short write-up too :- Genting Singapore (G13.SG) may slip as sequential fall in 3Q10 earnings suggests rival Las Vegas Sands, which owns Marina Bay Sands, gaining market share in Singapore. Net profit halved at S$187.8 million vs 2Q10''s S$396.5 million as revenue down 24.0% at S$744.0 million, although better than S$93.3 million loss year earlier. EBITDA at S$346.5 million with 47% margin vs S$513.9 million, 52% margin in 2Q10. "We view the results as disappointing, and believe (they) could lead to negative price reaction. 2Q results were clearly one-offs, and investors extrapolating that momentum will need to lower expectations," says Goldman Sachs, which has Neutral call with S$1.46 target. Despite potential pullback, stock remains one of best performers in Singapore, +78.1% since August 12, when it reported return to profitability in 2Q10. Shares flat at S$2.28 yesterday. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Seeing the above, would be a great chance to buy-in. GenSp still has more tricks up he sleeves, do yuo think it's so easy for MBS to defeat her ? |

QUOTE(ronn77 @ Nov 17 2010, 10:58 AM) Guys, which is the best dividend paying reit in Singapore stock? Thinking of parking some of my money there when market is slowing down. Ronn, take a look at the link below, which contains a pdf file, then look at Slide No 12/27. Your answer lies on the lefthand-most vertical bar : AIMSAMPIREIT.http://firstreit.listedcompany.com/newsroo...1002B5FA4.1.pdf But highest yield comes with its price too - safety of counter and sustainability of the yield. Please do your DD. |

QUOTE(ronn77 @ Nov 17 2010, 02:13 PM) Thanks for your chart Hansel. I'll tell you what I buy then, perhaps you can have a look too. I am in First REIT.And yes, you're right as the sustainability and the stability of the stock price is important too. I do have AIMSAMPIREIT but unfortunately the price I bought this stock is at 0.365 compared to current closing price @ 0.225 thus on paper I'm having negative yield at this moment. Shall look for other REIT company to put my money in or average down my price for AIMSAMPREIT. As for the history and performance, read it up. But there is a small inconvenience here - you will have to do it quickly. If you like it, this is a very good chance to go in. There is a Rights Issue which is about to start, for it has been proposed last week. Book Closure Date is on Dec 3. To me - this is a very good chance for investors to go in. I won't talk about the counter too much, I'll be neutral here. But with all the DD I have done, this is my largest holding. Good luck ! This post has been edited by Hansel: Nov 17 2010, 06:58 PM |

QUOTE(zhi guo @ Nov 17 2010, 11:10 PM) Hansel, can I seek your kind advice to the followings?: Ans as in the above. Good luck.1. I have been told earlier that dividends from S-Reits are tax free but I am now just told it's taxable income in Malaysia (i.e. I hve to declare and it will attract tax). Ans : No, not taxable in Malaysia. But please don't ask too much on this subject, anywhere in the world, the tax authorities can do what they like and when they like to do so, basically, just don't attract their attention. Under the latest Income Tax Act (with whatsoever amendments), foreign income is not taxable. That's all. 2. Can I know if one can buy SReits "on-line" or thru' a remisier? Is the buyer then the registered owner (through CDS or a similar S'pore equivqlent) or it's held in the Malaysian stock-broker name on your behalf? Ans : Please don't buy through a local brokerage. Take a trip to Singapore, and do this :- 1) Open a bank account. 2) Open a brokerage account in Sgp itself. 3) Trade via Internet and once in a while, call up your dealer representative to chat. Then, it's just minimum $25 per trade or if you go with DBS Vicker, it's just a minimum of $18.00 per trade under the Cash Upfront Account. Thanking you in advance (SReit newbie here). |

QUOTE(ronn77 @ Nov 18 2010, 05:38 PM) Thank you for the update, Ronn. I am sure you are aware too that you are now entitled to buy Rights Issues at a Rights Price @ 0.50 each, whereby, if my memory serves me correctly, it's a 4-for-5 arrangement. Please prepare your funds for this, and if you are not keen to take up your Rights, do sell them away later during the Rights Trading period. But I would think since you are so keen, you would definitely take-up the Rights too. Well, I hoped I am right about First REIT, in the present and in the future. |

QUOTE(ronn77 @ Nov 18 2010, 06:54 PM) Ronn, if you have purchased the units yesterday, means you are READY to take-up the Rights, otherwise, your average price later will fall to around 0.700 per unit - the TERP concept if you are familiar with it. Unless you are saying you would like to make the profit first - a bird in hand literally.I'll take up the Rights if I have the budget - for me. |
