Firstly, if one cannot wait, what better opportunity is there presently? Secondly, if he/she wants one 'desperately' enough, again, is there any other alternative other than to wait it out? Thirdly, the promo is until Saturday. Therefore one can go then unless he/she is working which means the person has to plan his/her schedule provided of course he/she cannot wait/is desperate enough. And lastly, if he/she is so then isn't it worth the gamble as you put it but the gamble is not whether there is a promo there but whether you are there in time to get a unit from the inventory.

I have said earlier....you cannot base your waiting period on all the rantings unless someone who also ordered from the same centre as yours, know specifically what is your waiting list no. after he/she has collected, meaning you will know then when yours is due for collection gauging from his/her no. and waiting period, albeit with a little reservation.

So, don't despair first but an advice is, instead of waiting for their call/sms, follow up diligently. In that manner, you just might get a faster response.

Just checked and yes, it's confirmed that it is for government staff only.

It's good that you need not pay the deposit but how sure are you that your unit is actually reserved? Did they give you a receipt or some sort of confirmation?

What is important is that you have some sort of confirmation in writing and that's what I was trying to stress.

Thanks not just you Nok, for the defense but the others as well who came out to voice their concern. I was not asking a question but making an observation but what he doesn't realize is that I was giving him a very good opportunity to sell his wares better by merely advising that his are all the real deal, since he did not initially. But instead, he went and flew off his rocker.

Well, that is what the world is coming to with such types of people. Instead fo analysing before rebutting, they just make it worse for themselves in the eyes of others.

The comment that he made is a case in point where he said that the iPhone sells by itself. The statement by itself is not wrong but since there are so many (re)sellers, one has to promote his own sales. But what baffles me or makes me rofl is that what started this 'row' was the fact that he 'advertised' his stock for sale. So, by making the foregoing statement is actually a slap in his own face.

But alas, let us not bother ourselves with such foolhardy people. We have better things to do. Cheers mate.

Please be advised that mobile phones sold in Malaysia are all unlocked and that is the legal bind to all telcos. Likewise for the iPhones.

As to the locked sets, from what I digested after one of the forummers posted, he was not alluding to that the iPhones are locked per se. What he was saying, which I personally doubt Maxis can do it (but who knows, I could be totally wrong), is that Maxis barred the changing of the APN so that whoever buys the iPhone must only use a Maxis SIM for data purposes. For voice calls and the like, one could still use SIMs from other service providers.

I hope those concerned are now informed but if anyone knows any differently, I can stand corrected.

Jailbreak your phone. Install SB Settings. From there disable functions like 3G, Edge which will meet your purpose.

Your advice is not quite prudent. Even though warranty may still be valid, it is an imported unit meaning it could be from as far away as the US of A and iPhone warranty can only be made in the country of origin. Therefore, do you think it is wise to purchase that just to save a couple of hundred ringgit? And this is not to take into account that it may not be an officially unlocked unit which gives added headaches.
