the extra are becuz of Nvidia Turbo Cache...

it borrows extra RAM from the system, like wat integrated graphic does... this will happen only when the onboard is sufficient...

easier way would be use winrar to open the file, and u are free to install ur prototype smile.gif
*
no .. winrar can not open ISO file !!
ppl like to use demon tool bcoz it can direct create a shortcut when you direct read it from ur ISO file whihc might be from the external !!
dont need install !!

daemon tools make a virtual drive in ur pc
u can think tat .iso file is a "virtual dvd", so virtual drive mount "virtual dvd" then ur pc will read it just like read real dvd
while winrar simply open the .iso file & view its content and u will still need to extract it

yeah! hahahahaha! but he got more power than hancock!
since this is BenQ performance thread, my s42 can use high setting but AA is OFF, using max resolution.

Maybe because of the Win 7 performance, my joybook are able to play this game. So guys, pm astria for Win 7 business if u wanna play this prototype.
So violence!

i didn't check the fps because i haven't install fraps software yet.
but the game kinda smooth..to ensure gaming pleasure, just set it to medium setting even though can use high setting. Didn't expect so much from medium range laptop @ s42.

in windows i am not quite sure, but in UBuntu or linux, if u want to use the usb wifi, switch off the internal at booting, then plug ur usb wifi , when start into the OS with a ready to use desktop, turn the switch on again. By this time, only the usb will be detected.

Wanna ask something, IF the laptop is currently running on 65w adapter, can I use a 90w adapter on it?

My friend Inspiron 6400 adapter spoiled, I'm getting a replacement adapter for her.

no problem at all...

the rating on the adapter itself means the max output it can achieve...

since ur friend's old adapter is rated at 65W, anything that's more than it is good to use...

for gaming, choose either S57 or SXPS16
for gaming & good looking, choose SXPS16
for gaming & more portable, choose S42
for heavy multi-task & a little gaming, choose S15
for gaming in cheaper price, choose S57

hope this will help u decide tongue.gif

i'm looking for gaming laptop that can play 'decent' games...
at the same time i search for best overall performance laptop...

i like BenQ brand[as i'm a user of S31vw]
so, i think S57 is better in term of GPU..

but for overall performance [ speaker,battery,display,etc..]
the Dell SXPS16 and Dell Studio 15 are good...
it term of GPU , SXPS16 will win.. but the differences is just not far than Studio 15 wink.gif

4670 or 4650 is lots better than 4570, core i7 wont increase gaming performance too much

both of them can't really satisfy me ... coz they have no real woofer ... pretty down on the bass side...vocal is still ok...u shud fined a 2.1 type

Added on October 5, 2009, 9:41 pmand btw, the output of t20 is just 14watts in total ... a bit too small, my cheap sonic gear morro 521 already more than that ...

I think your HDD have bad sector..that's why it kept hanging everytime you install new OSes or when you are using it, hangs for some moments...maybe you can try LLF (Low Level Format)..see if that can help you nod.gif...

Try disabling the 5100 first...uninstall the USB one also...then install again with the 5100 disabled...worth a try...i also encounter this before, this steps work for me tongue.gif

power consumption depends on the hardware used also...

generally speaking, i dun really see why 64-bit would consume more power...

the other way is perhaps thru the back of LCD monitor, since the pattern is different...

other than that, it's basically S42 (less the WiFi adapter) in S41 chasis and LCD...

Hey astria, you looking for a pair of speakers? I recommend you the Altec Lansing FX3022. It 's 2.2 and the bass quality really satisfy me for it's size thumbup.gif

One of my friend bought 5 sets of it and set up 10.10 surround system in his room using 1 pair of sound card in one CPU doh.gif

Final result = 10.10 channel Home theater notworthy.gif

i am using W7 with hybrid, and yes it works, DoX's modded driver 185.85 seems to be the one delivering the highest performance, and according to miahaha, lowest temperature(by 3-4C)

mind sharing what's ur heat on gaming? izit 95C? if so, try to email the service center to sort out this matter, before this i also face this issue, but after sending in to service, it reduce, i benchmarked devil may cry, and it just give me a 80C even when i stress till the game started lagging, although some graphic heavy game will still smack a 90C++ out of the card.

as for the sound, don think so..u can self mod speaker de..but then, no one tried that yet so far..and as for battery life, i don think driver would improve much, given that the intel GMA already is low power consumption..

anyway welcome to the club, just post ur question here next time, or u can chat with us here also

lol jak, cant blame me dude...actually, this is the thread..somewhere at v7 or v8 we decided to change name...and now it's v12 liao..so, quite some times already isn't it..
anyway, try using some GPU temp monitor to monitor ur temperature..sadly say i havent not game for more then 3 hours...i think the longest i play was around 2 hours, playing grid, temperature at 94C peak, and no problem at all..if ur warranty is still there, can just try to talk to service center ppl, request change fan or whole heatsink, cos your one i think is overheating..

warranty over also just try to email Mr Yap to sort out and see la

@jakuraz
mind telling what game did you played for 3 long hours before it auto shutdown?? hmm.gif

I also S42 (P8600)...well, played GRID for almost 4 hours without any cooler and also with Dox modded driver 185.85, didn't auto shutdown...

Played Prototype for 5 long hours at peak temp of 87C...didn't shutdown also...

I guess there something wrong with your laptop...better send to BenQ SC, like BBXiong did, they change the fan unit and now his laptop are running games under 90C at most...except for those high graphic demanding games nod.gif

Final result = 10.10 channel Home theater  notworthy.gif

lol afaik no such thing, ur bass will screw up the direction la, cause it position itself in front. not side or anything.

Of cuz the bass not full blast bro sweat.gif

My friend he tried full blast for the bass and as u said, really screw up the direction when he try out with songs sweat.gif

But with correct channel settings and a lot tuning of the equalizer on the sound card, it really works thumbup.gif , and the bass for some speakers have to reduce to minimal also, so no over "boom" sound rclxub.gif

And the reason he choose this set of speaker for that setting is because, the subwoofers is down hitting ver so it don't have a direct shoot at your direction one...

it's an overpriced product, my RM99 sonic gear morro 521 never has this problem, the bass is the most perfect among speakers under rm100. No humming sound and very responsive.

not really sure about the razer quality but some people said that their product seems to be degrading a lot lately, even my friend that used to love razer mouse said its not that nice anymore..well, maybe for models that above normal price the quality still the same lor..

actually not just mac, the truth is abt "transmission" the torrent downloader in MAC and Linux .. they are faster and more stable .. usually i can reach torrent speed of 200kb/s with my streamyx 1mbps package at home.

Transmission is good lor...while Ubuntu-ing, i use Transmission as main BT client..stable and also the speed always consistent...even in Mac i use Transmission gave me the same result...

for now on Vista, uT 2.0 is the best BT client...my download speed at peak can reached 200kbps with 1M Streamyx

@sordanny
what it meant is, although my package is 1M, my port is capped at 1.5M, so that i can get full 1M speed...just call TM, tell them you are not getting the speed that you supposed to and they'll up the download rate lor..icon_rolleyes.gif

that's strange i've heard a lot of horror stories streamyx torrenting directly only will get 3kb/s...
i've tried utorrent 2.0 on U Mobile and it won't bypass the throttle.....
the speed is not that fantastic also using a vpn...

so meaning streamyx cannot detect torrenting using 'transmission' in mac OS?

well, VPN still good lor because it gives you consistent speed all the time (am i right?? laugh.gif) but without VPN, sometimes the speed will dropped like hell but then again it will go up high again (inconsistent)...so VPN still good for heavy downloaders lor....

Another thing is the capped limit that been going crazy over Streamyx user..with the use of VPN, you can bypass that capped limit and won't get low download speed as others nod.gif..

ya...actually i need to clarify something, soundmagic is PL21, but PL12..
and i compare to my lost Philips SHE-9500, and my old edifier that last time cost me RM120, also lost...all in-ear earphone, and i would say, the PL21 wins the rest of them, except for the stronger bass that the edifier one had last time...i really miss it.. T.T

wow....u r so pro in bio....haha....btw, u know students from PE5? my frens from PE5.

@ everyone, can anyone suggest any other freeware that can use to mount the RE5 besides the daemon tools for win 7 version? cause the daemon tools for win7 is not ahem one and there is no free version and now the trial is already expired. or is there any free version of daemon tools for win7?? So any other software that can mount the RE5?

also, is there anyone turn on their notebook with battery in for 24/7/30/365 without stand by/sleep/hibernate/screen off/etc...?? will the notebook face any problems?? and how long usually that notebook will survive??

last question, my hostel keep on suddenly no electricity and results in improper shut down of my notebook nowadays. Thus, my notebook already faced at least 8 times of improper shut down recently. So,any bad effects of improper shut down?? i mean to the hardware like hard disk, GC, motherboard,etc...

thanks a lot for the infos given.

@angelpoli
Well,a sudden trip maybe will affect the HDD/MB (rarely) but for preventive, better use battery lor if your place always got blackout nod.gif

I used to ON my HP Pavilion Dv1000 24/7/365 with battery...nothing wrong with it but in long term, it'll affect your battery life as the heat from other hardware in laptop will wear-down the battery cells....but if you certain that your place always blackout, then better always put battery on standby nod.gif..

sennheiser's bass is much softer ..but more responsive ...actually if u buy px100, it's quite suitable for modern music also ...just becuase it's a supraaural type, u may not like it in terms of weak isolation ... but i can say that the bass of px100 is enough to schock ur ears even if u wear it in crowded place also .. at least from my experience ..

and the good thing about supraaural and open type earphone is that u r still be able to be aware of ur surrounding ..good for ppl who like to listen to mp3 on their way to places ... especially when walking ..

i am sure u can differentiate them ... just that u can go slowly ...no need to rush to those audiophile level so fast ...take ur time to find which type of earphones suits u best ...just like before this i prefered in-ear ...but after sometime, i bought that px100 after trying it at an audio shop ... they i realise that those headphone typ is more suitable for me ...

when using earbuds type ...the bass beating on my eardrum creates high pressure on my eardrum ...it makes the bass sounds too rough and becomes less responsive...covers up all the vocal and loses the soundstage ....

sennheiser's bass is much softer ..but more responsive ...actually if u buy px100, it's quite suitable for modern music also ...just becuase it's a supraaural type, u may not like it in terms of weak isolation ... but i can say that the bass of px100 is enough to schock ur ears even if u wear it in crowded place also .. at least from my experience ..

and the good thing about supraaural and open type earphone is that u r still be able to be aware of ur surrounding ..good for ppl who like to listen to mp3 on their way to places ... especially when walking ..
*
lol wei yap. i totally disagree with you. if you take bus/tube the worst kind of headphones are superaural. Because you can't get isolation and for me. the most important part of headphones is to drown out every other thing.... of course dun be blind la... crossroad care lor....

last time, noise in MRT and bus is the main reason y i prefer in-ear... when i get off the bus, i usually juz take out 1 side, so that i am still aware of the surrounding... laugh.gif

now is becuz i am used to it, plus it's so many times better than earbuds... XD

anyway, if u want bass, actually u should try Panasonic, Sony is like all-rounder, Audio Technica is good with human voice, but seems to lack a bit bass for me, Sennheiser dun need to say more, Ultimate Ears is also very nice, same lvl as Sennheiser i ve to say...

anyone tried Microsoft Security Essentials??? it's the new free Anti-virus from Microsoft...

using it now... pretty light and doesn't take up much resources, much better than Live One Care...

in terms of features, it's a stripped version of Live One Care, no more backup (Win7 has it), and no more Online photo backup...

in exchange is the smaller size (installation file less than 5MB), less RAM usage (less than 5MB), and integrates with Windows Defender...

user interface is clear and simple...

overall a very nice free program to use...

available for XP, Vista and Win7... 64-bit version is avaliable only for Vista and Win7...

weiyap u here???

i've just done some r&d on osx86
on youtube it seems plain and simple with insert dvd then point and click install methods
but on insanelymac forums it's the other way round

which 1 is correct???
i'm planning to dual boot win7 & osx10.6
so can i:
1) install win7
2) create partition for mac (not the ntfs one)
3) change boot sequence to boot from cd
4) insert osx10.6 dvd
5) point & click install

iirc, you need to pre-patched your leopard and also make sure you configure all the hardwares correctly so that it will work when you boot later on nod.gif..

Both are old model laptop..RM1.3k for R45 is reasonable if you ask me, but what the use, its already obsolete in terms of hardware...and also, just a word of advice..better stay away from S41, not that the model is problematic but the GPU that it use..maybe you can drop-by in NVIDIA 8 Series GPU victims for more info nod.gif

dude what build of OSX86 are u trying to boot? wanted to do that on mine the other day but backed out at the last minute and installed win7 x64 instead lol. let us know if u manage to get it working. Also, might wanna try running the 9600GT alone and disabling the intel gfx from the bios. And keep a boot disk ready just in case thumbup.gif

OH and make sure that your primary partition for OSX is next to the win7 one or youll have probs mounting the hfs. good luck!

dude what build of OSX86 are u trying to boot? wanted to do that on mine the other day but backed out at the last minute and installed win7 x64 instead lol. let us know if u manage to get it working. Also, might wanna try running the 9600GT alone and disabling the intel gfx from the bios. And keep a boot disk ready just in case  thumbup.gif

OH and make sure that your primary partition for OSX is next to the win7 one or youll have probs mounting the hfs. good luck!

morning people

so does it mean that if i use a normal retail Leopard DVD to install it won't work as a point & click???
and pre-patched installation disc means those from kalyway, iatkos or the others????
i'm trying to boot Leopard 10.6 version btw

those "guides" available out there is not well written with no pics.....
a lot of them is confusing sad.gif

weiyap u here???

i've just done some r&d on osx86
on youtube it seems plain and simple with insert dvd then point and click install methods
but on insanelymac forums it's the other way round

which 1 is correct???
i'm planning to dual boot win7 & osx10.6
so can i:
1) install win7
2) create partition for mac (not the ntfs one)
3) change boot sequence to boot from cd
4) insert osx10.6 dvd
5) point & click install

u can use the retail one, but a lot pf patching works after install especially with drivers ... i my self also haven;t dare to try it yet ...i think u can try out with ideneb 10.5.8 first ... later only change to snow leopard ...

btw, to boot into the retail one, u need to use boot-123.

use prepatched version will save u a lot of works ....

retail dvd is meant for real macs, not for hackintosh ...so i just won;t work straight away ... understand it, apple comes out with that retail dvd for real apple users, not for us ...

so if i install using the retail DVD i'll have to patch all the drivers to get it working??
where to get all the patches??
and, since it's easier to install using prepatched version, where to get it??
