Well, this is from The Star Online.

According to The Star newspaper today, the new grading system would be as follows:

Existing---New
- ------------- A+ (New)
1A ---------- A
2A ---------- A-
3B ---------- B+
4B ---------- B
5C ---------- C+
6C ---------- C
7D ---------- D
8E ---------- E
9G ---------- G

So I guess we have 45 days left to work harder for this year's SPM.

As long as the marks are still based on a curve, I don't see much of difference.

I guess the A+ is meant only for those who really strike excellently well in SPM.

This will certainly makes the grades look nicer as A+ stands for excellently well, And help to sort out the excellent from the mediocre. Well, may sound a good and bad thing to some.

anyway, strike hard to get good result then. Good luck to those who sit for SPM 2009. U deserve the grade A+ if and only if u really strike for it. smile.gif

“The change in the grading system will enable more qualified candidates to be chosen for training programmes and new scholarships, such as the one announced by the Prime Minister recently,” he said.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said in June that a new category of Public Services Department scholarships would be introduced next year based purely on merit, regardless of race.

What does that mean? Does it mean this year SPM candidates that is us? or next year SPM candidates?

I feel that it's gonna worsen the whole "studying just to ace exam" situation further.

A1 could be a good measure if they didn't lower the standard so much. If you were to compare now and 10 years ago. Back then, who would need an A+ ?

But I suppose in this day and age, they need something like this to contrast the excellent students from the rest.

As a this year's SPM batch myself, I recall some things encounter by our batch as I would describe that we are being "lab rats":
1. We are the first batch not to sit for PTS back in 2001 as it was canceled that year.
2. We are the third batch to be introduced with Science and Maths in English
3. We are the first batch to be introduced with Pendidikan Sivik dan Kewarganegaraan.
4. And now, we are the first batch to be introduced to this new SPM grading system.

I'm not surprised that over the years, we have been bombarded with education "experiments".

you guys are actually complaining that you'll have to work harder to get better grades? What is this world coming to? The whole reason why the Malaysian education system is shitty is because students rely on the government lowering the passing mark to dismal and now that they're actually trying to do something about it, you guys complain about having to work harder. What?
