1.wat is the difference between TOYOTA DEALERS and TOYOTA UMW ??
The centre i found on toyota website IS  belong to??

2.Is paying cash a smart choice in order to get much more discount?
*
at the website it shows u any one that is selling and servicing Toyota u will not know it is a UMW branch or Franchise branch... but when you reach there u would be able to see the signboard, is either UMW Toyota Sdn Bhd or XXXXX Sdn Bhd (others franchise)... smile.gif

2ndly about the discount it is up to you to squeeze the SA lo... my fren get a good good discount when he buy a car coz his own family company is paying cash 1 time... smile.gif

not really..quite cramped behind...the previous gen honda city has better head and leg room.

But again, each car has their own advantages. smile.gif, like vios' flat floor.
*
on leg room u have to depends on the person which is driving... if he is 6' tall then of course the room will be smaller... smile.gif

PP2 has harder side wall which means ride a bit harsh... but for Dugong i'm ok with it but duno about ur kinda tolerance...
Primacy LC will not give you any handling.... it is just a quiet and comfy tire

Currently using Falken 912, in terms of noise it is actually not perform quite well. A good thing for for the Falken 912 is, when you hit bump or something, like the bridge line, you can hear the solid sound of the tyre. Comfortable wise, consider quite good.

Just when running on high speed, the noise is still there. Will give a try on the Michelin Primacy LC on the next tire changes.
*
well the noise insulation of the Dugong is not good... worst than 1st gen as some of them commented i don know coz i only sit once in dugong... but if you think that is noisy then performance tires to increase the handling and cornering ability of the car is not good at all for you... smile.gif

QUOTE(travis_ckf @ Dec 25 2009, 01:14 PM)
I once used Falken 912 for my previous ride and i just found it to be just okay, and i more impressed with vios stock tyre (BS Potenza RE 080) than the falken 912.

I now considering BS Potenza RE001 or Continential SC series. Which one should i go? Would love one that grippy and for hard cornering.
*
well RE001 should be ok for you but it is a bit pricey... but if you don mind tying Federal 595 evo as other bro said it is good... smile.gif RM250 is steep... RM200 for that is a reasonable price... for RM250 i better get PP2 coz cornering in wet is not as important as the hydroplaning ability of the PP2... but no one knows about the durability yet as this tire is still new...
Hankook V12 also not that bad... and it cost only RM190/pc and i'm impress with the grip also... wet and dry... compare to PP2, V12 has the upper hand on comfort and cornering (wet and dry, PP2 lose a bit here) but PP2 give you more precise handling (V12 lose about 0.3sec steering response if you are driving around 110km/h) and also hydroplaning (PP2 can consider best in UHP class)...
BS RE001 around RM270, MICH PP2 around RM230, Toyo R1R around RM300(???), Toyo T1R around RM260,
Cheapest Federal 595 Evo around RM210, Hankook V12 around RM190... but you will impress on the value vs performance ratio... the thread wear of V12 also not bad, PP2, T1R tends to wear faster on shoulder... others has not really study around yet...
coz my priority is Straight-line Hydroplanning, Cornering Grip/Traction, Comfort and of course noise is not too loud... i don like tire which is hard hard side wall.. PP2 for me is a bit on marginal but it give me fun of driving during wet as it cuts thru any small patch of water easily (hydroplaning)...
u also must list out... the most important part of the tire to you...
for me any time i can go back to PP2 coz i prefer to have faster straight line speed in wet... smile.gif

QUOTE(vios2002 @ Dec 26 2009, 03:27 PM)
both tire corner just so so ... if for hard corning try look for like from toyo r1r / kumho ku 36/ BS Re01r / federal 595 Rs-R or 595 evo if money not any issue then yokohama AD08

Added on December 26, 2009, 3:29 pm

u will surprise federal offer for the grip level...  low cost some more...
*
Well Hankook V12 also not bad but i'm willing to try 595 Evo after this set of V12... RE001 is a bit too steep but the dry grip is good, wet is ok if you don mind driving 60~80km/h during heavy rain... Toyo tires' price also a bit high la... the best for value is Federal 595 Evo, Hankook V12 and also Kumho...

QUOTE(vios2002 @ Dec 27 2009, 12:18 PM)
from klang (klang utama) some of the klang tire shop do sell this tire but they dint promo much... some of my friend say this tire can use meh? then they just in my car for some corner demo ... they silent after that...

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

*
this looks good almost similar thread like V12 but again now u can find most of the tire is having quite similar ones but it is ur choice to take a deep breath and choose which ever u like to try... smile.gif

Cheers... it is just my opinion but u all have to set priorities b4 u jump into conclusion which to get...
remember the most important is Handling, Traction (Dry and Wet), Comfort and Noise...

wow...void the suspension.. lol..do they cost alot?

Added on January 3, 2010, 5:26 pmTRd spec has the same engine as the  other spec sad.gif
*
well suspension is on the things related to it sure it cost you around RM1000 if you wanna calculate alll but actually it does not affect ur car warranty much as toyota is known of its good lower arm design "Che Kiok" so nothing to 1orry about it...

remember handling of a car still depends on the owner preference... some say normal old Vios is good enough but some still prefer to lower it somemore to get more handling...

as for the tires 16" and 17" tires will not give you a huge different from pricing, but if you fit 17" to it, the FC surely will not good compare to 16" and so on for 15" also... but for that 185/60 R15 or when you change to 195/55 R15 u may get cheaper tire RM250 (good ones) compare to RM300++ for 16" and 17" also...
what is your priorities? Handling or Comfort or Look nice only??? ur choice...

Handling
u need a set of lower spring & sport absorber(depends ur lower height preference), with good 17" rim & tires

Comfort
with improved handling you need to stick back to 15" but 60 series is too thick, change to 195/55 R15 Michelin PP2, Yokohama S Drives, BS RE001 or any harder side wall tire... then change the shock to gas type or harder type... retain the spring if you wan or change to lowered spring (slightly lower will do)...

Look only u can install wat ever u want... smile.gif
*gentle reminder of the wheel offset and please make sure it does not scratch the fender and the front lower arm when you turn ur steering... and Malaysia is full of bumps and humps, once u lower the car sure u will have to suffer more...

for me no problem maybe it is not properly tested in harsh harsh usage... smile.gif
Jun '05 - around 87k now...
u have to look at the rear absorber for leaking only thats it... others if the car is in good condition or not bring it over a stretch of bumpy road then you will know if there is any funny sound in the cabin and from the wheels or mounting

front wheel is your problem actually further more u say u have used for 1 yr around 30k km i think... for me i think that wear is cause by urself coz u did not do rotation of tires urself every 10k km (recommended by tire manufacturer)... because of our cornering sure the outer part of the front tires wear off faster and especially on the left side...
so please go and check ur thread wear every month if found pretty unbalance wear on the front left vs right, ask the tire shop to do rotation for you... cheers...

FYI please check ur tire pressure and if you drive more than 1km (even in the nite) b4 u check ur pressure please add in another 1~3 PSI on top of the recommended air pressure... that is wat being told by the SOP tire pressure checking...
a car tires should more be used more than 3 yrs OTR or 5 yrs from the date of manufactured (maybe u bought a tire which manufactured 3 yrs ago)... so take note k... smile.gif

for the vibrating issue might be caused by ur Disc roto or the Disc brake itself... check as SC to check then double confirm with mechanics outside also... 2ndly check ur wheel balancing also that...

fren that is the B pillar... tongue.gif
no need +5 PSI it is a bit harsh... 32~34 PSI for the front is ok already... smile.gif

i think lower kua... i'm using '05 also but around RM60k kua... not sure about the condition also... hard to tell... see whether the car has full Toyota SC record or not... can ask toyota SC about that also... if full toyota SC record, no accident claim and also very nice condition worth more than that i think...

look at the joining parts part fully (eg Doors and Fenders lining) and also the fronts and back lights make sure it is Ori... if not mistaken it has a emboss toyota word on the bottom of the light and it is not yellowish for the front main lights...
why does not have spare key, i assume it to be face lift version... the keys cost you about RM150 if not mistaken for spares... 70k++ ok wat low milage... make sure you check on the insurance record and also the JPJ or Police records also on the car b4 make any assumption... smile.gif

cheers... my fren is looking for last gen vios also... he is still waiting for the seller to confirm...

QUOTE(andrekua @ Jan 10 2010, 08:13 AM)
There is a problem with their tyre selection and they are keeping mum about it in order to reduce the cost of replacement or avoiding a total recall for Vios J. My bro's J also experiencing it. It has to be the tyre. Another colleague of mine who also bought J does not have this problem when he changed his tyre and rims. Obviously UMW is trying to cut one corner too much and are gonna pay for it. If you corner a lot, yes, the edge/side will wear faster but not this fast. The wear rate of the side is just too much. I also urge my bro to fight for it as he also did allignment on every visit.

As for vibration, it could be your wheel is not totally balance or the wear on the brake disc is not even. Im not sure if it works for J. My 1st gen Vios also have this problem. High speed braking is prone to vibration. Doing an on-wheel balancing does reduce the vibration by quite a lot.

*
i don have this problem might be ur rims already not nice or so... try to look at the bearing also...
and Do Not let Toyota to do alignment for you... coz they sub out also... so bring urself to a tire shop to do it... i have this problem on my front left wheel and i found out the alignment is not properly done... mad.gif

QUOTE(xenothrix @ Jan 11 2010, 03:42 PM)
do hope to check with other J owners. Talked to SC again and this time the information they give is the tyre design spec doesn't match vios J. i still couldnt get written log to persue this complaint. they promise to replace in 1 or 2 weeks time, which i m yet to get confirmation.

i wouldnt bother sending for outside alignment or balancing as this would give them an excuse that i tempered ther car setup n thus voiding my warranty. for some lucky ones where their GY GT3 are doing fine, i guess ours could b a bad batch of tyres, which UMW seems to b covering up. i m not happy with their decision to not releasing this important piece of info. Lifes are on their hands.

my J registered end Oct 2009. Manufactured date should b aug/sept 2009. how about urs?
edit: for those affected, the tyre hv a tendency to skid at wet road. pls b informed.
*
that thinking is not correct... u do own alignment does not tempered ur warranty as u only wan to do alignment...
i did checked once... my Vios is out by 3 degress... and we had a complaint with a free alignment from the SC around 1 months ago... that time was driven by my mum... u think la... how can it run out by 3 degree after only 1 month some more driven by auntie at average around 60~80 km/h only (at Ipoh)...
that is very subjective... tires GT3 sucks maximum... tat tire can throw away if you wanna have more safety... change it to XM1, or others with better traction will help u... it is like ur shoe... my NCT5 with my Vios '05 left 40% trade in already, another left 50% come with my 2nd hand rim on my SEG same case... GY low end tires really is a big disappointment...

look and observe ur tire wear rate... is it even overall the tire width or not... it the shoulder wear is much more than the inner ones, means there might be a problem there... for me it is the car alignment is not properly done b4 they handle over the car and they will get resposible for that... but after 5000km u cannot say anything on that already coz as an onwer u have to monitor is there any unusual wear rate on ur tires or not... i think the best is check the alignment of ur car urself at outside, again this will not void your warranty as this is a very normal stuff to let outside tire shop to check... u give Toyota SC also no use their alignment and wheels services also is sub-out contract... so why not do urself... if you say must do everything at the SC during the warranty period u means all those who changed RIMs, Tires, lights... blah blah blah... cannot have warranty lo... again it will not void ur warranty if you change ur tire or do wheels balancing and alignment outside... i claimed my rear set of adsorber b4 my warrnaty ends... so did Toyota reject my claim??? no...
