I'd rather buy used shoes from ebay than Braun Bueffel.

QUOTE(Harvey_7 @ Jan 6 2010, 11:12 PM) hi guys..i'm 21 this year and i'm looking for a black men's leather shoe which comes with nice stylish design and comfortable at the same time..any brand recommendations and where can i get it from? budget around RM 350 - RM 400..thanks Another option is to have a pair custom made. I was in a small town a few days ago to see the doctor, and stopped in to an old-fashioned shoe shop to see if they have any cedar wood shoe trees (old stock from, say, 30 years ago) for RM 20 or something. The shop proprietor showed me a pair of shoes he was making for a customer. It has a leather sole (glued, not welted), and he was hand-dyeing the uppers (I'm not certain if the uppers are leather). The quality is nowhere like English handmade/benchmade shoes, but for RM200 it is an interesting deal. I imagine there are many more shoemakers like him all over the country. Maybe there is a star shoemaker among them.

All black shoes nowadays are corrected grain. With black, it makes little difference. It is in brown shoes where the better ones are aniline dyed.
Added on January 9, 2010, 12:47 amIt's a pity the insole is synthetic. Maybe Kulitkraft can custom make a shoe with a leather insole. It makes a big difference.

I don't know what sort of brown shoe you have. If it's the usual kind of shoe (price till about RM400) I wouldn't bother with Kiwi. It dirties your finger and it smells strange. Better just get one of those instant shine stuff or shoe wipes. They're specifically developed for the sort of shoes 99.99% of people wear nowadays. I used them for years happily after spending far too much time with traditional waxes. Fast and easy.
If you have aniline dyed leather (price >RM600), you'll want to get Saphir waxes and creams from P. Lal. They're like Kiwi, only better. But using them is a lot of work. They're for shoe enthusiasts.

Put an open tin of Kiwi in a plastic bag. Cup bag over your nostrils and mouth. Breathe in and out. Enjoy.

I actually know where to find English made cedar trees which are adjustable in width and length for about RM120. Serious old world quality. No, I'm not telling!

Brass hooks instead of knobs. It lets you hang the shoes, or just the trees. Good when the soles are drenched.
Added on January 12, 2010, 12:39 amI kept wanting to buy them up. But RM120 is a lot to pay for shoe trees. I keep hesitating.

QUOTE(FusioneX @ Apr 1 2010, 04:23 PM) This pair came out of the Jimmy Choo Ltd x H&M collaboration. I don't think the Dato's touch is in it: Yeah, H&M always has these strange collaborations. They did a Karl Lagerfeld thing a few years back in winter and I bought their Lagerfeld perfume. I used it twice and no more. It smelled of Christmas cinnamon cookies.
