noob question here, i just got my 3gs, googled on how to close apps instead of just docking them, all said that just by pressing the home button for 4 seconds... but when i did that the voice command came out instead of closing the apps.. anyone know the exact way to shut em down completely?

for 3GS if u want to shut off the app completely is by
press the sleep button until the "slide to off" appear then u press home button for 5seconds

then it will completely exit the apps.

when u exit to home...i means all shutdown/off... but push notification will be still on based on ur setting if there is any...

I'm using sim card A (My Australia sim card), all my contacts are in sim card A, i managed to sync from Sim A to my iphone 3gs manually via iphone navigation, settings>mails,contacts,calendars>import sim contacts. So after doing that my contacts can be accessed in the iphone.

Now my questions are:
I'll be back in Malaysia during the holidays and it is an unlocked iphone i requested my providers to unlocked it.
Questions:
1. Every time i put a different SIM card e.g SIM B(Malaysia sim card), i have to connect to itunes first right so that itunes can 'activate' the iphone with the new sim (sim B) in order to be used.
2. Now how do i sync my contact from SIM A to the iphone which is now using SIM B? Does iphone autosave my contacts from SIM A when i connect to itunes and automatically/manually will sync my contact to the new sim B after 'activation'?
3. And lastly, sim B is a non 3G sim card (Prepaid), can iphone still be used with a non-3G sim card in Malaysia, i don't really surf internet via 3G  since my streamyx is up to my expectation for wifi navigation with the iphone.

maybe this is not the place to ask this, but i give it a try. can we use iphone to send sms to those sms services with short numbers? (i.e. ONSERVICE and send to 33999). compared to conventional phone numbers, a dash will automatically comes out after tapped in the first 3 numbers (i.e. 339 -99). i think the network (im using maxis) wont recognize the dash in the number. is there any setting for the iphone (im using iphone 3Gs fw 3.1) to get rid of the dash?

those 'dashes' do not play much role, to be honest. they will not affect any sort of sequence or what so ever.

they are determined by locality. hence try fiddling around your iPhone's region to see which one suits your preference best.
