it has a false bottom.... and the substrate is quite thick that only the surface area that dry off due to evaporation cause it is quite a big tank.... Rest assure that it is still very humid.

Sedapnya komen pasal orang.. At least he's making an effort. And that tank took a lot of time to do up. Good going Fallentoyol! False bottoms are difficult but you're doing it anyway on quite a big setup. wink.gif

I was once told by Alex to make false bottom for AFS,its good and convenient in controlling the tank condition. But the top layer substrate(soil) always mix up with the bottom. Now he was using coco fibre, lagi susah. tongue.gif
A question here,do u guys use tiny or big stones for the bottom?

LOL,Fallen'toyol' tongue.gif

I din use false bottom setup but i heard better use big gravel (Or was it small?) and put a layer of mesh wired on top of the gravel before putting substrate, that will prevent the the substrate mixing with the level below it

I dint use those tunnel tube to fill in water but if u see properly, around the water dish (the red colour thinggy), there is a bare land, only gravels but without cocofiber.... So I just pour water onto the gravels and the water will flow towards the whole bottom. There are two area with this function, another one is under the drift wood. I use big stone to prevent cocofiber from over flowing the "bare land area". I found out that this is quite convenient as i can monitor the water level through that area and tubing make my tank looks so fake.... tongue.gif

Hmmm... ya, i m using big gravel for false bottom... Till now havent seen much cocofiber mixed with the gravels, yet... But if you wanna prevent this from happening, just mixed the gravels with smaller one so that the empty space between the bigger gravels could be filled.

btw, there are more then 5 hides for them but some of them seems like to stay under 1 same roof

i use very small gravel that i can buy from the LFS or i dig around my area such as in the picture for one of my false bottom setup. but the rest are usually potting soil.

rock flakes anyone.

false bottom are very nice but they do make the enclosure heavier but i like them in a way that there is a ready supply of moisture under the substrate in case u are busy or forgot to mist the enclosures.

yeah, that is my initial idea but however couldnt really make it so i put a water dish there to replace it.
The problem is that the cocofiber are good in absorbing water, hence unless you gonna refill it everyday or you try using a shallow plate/dish or something else as the "lake" and fill it with gravels and cover the side with some moss so it looks natural...
Just mt thoughts.

My 1st tank turn out pretty well. I mean for the "pond" part if you have seen in previous post.... But still doesnt last long. The water dry out in 1 week time. That tank i put 1 layer of potting soil above the gravel before the cocofiber as potting soil not a strong absorbent like cocofiber.

I dint get much plants this time cause kinda troublesome to switch on light for them everyday and i am gonna leave them at home when i goin to KL after CNY...

i tried ur pond setup before fallenangel and it look good at first then the whole enclosure got flooded once the coco fiber starts to adsorb the water.

seeing my scorpions walking high because of water is a funny sight.

i'm using a false bottom guppy tank.

just put small gravel at the bottom, coco peat/potting soil on top.

pour water, and put in the scorps.

i use guppy tank for my 3 instars spinifers.
