apalling finishing. oh setpiece defending was about the same standard as well. cech back to his normal 'shall i come or shall i stay, no i'll just stop halfway' routine. i said it again and again it might cost us one day, and sure enough it has. the other defenders for the second goal didn't do enough to help out, but they might have been put off a little by big pete's indecision. poor excuse and like madfag said, it was a collective failure. disappointed with deco, anelka and malouda's performances too. especially the latter who apart from a fancy flick and 1 shot straight at friedel, i couldn't remember him doing much else.

what hurts most is the fact that we took the lead first and threw it all away. lampsy still can't find his feet, and i have no idea why joey only came on for the last 5 mins. i do feel its time to freshen things up a bit with cole and yuri. maybe even sturridge. some players deserve to warm the bench for the next game and think about how poor they were in this match.

I said it is normal for ageing players to deteriorate. This theory somehow false for extraordinary players like Gigsy and Zola, just to name a few.

Some good article here to explain all lamps performance

Frank Lampard should be Chelsea's centre of attention, not out on a limb

Frank Lampard's frustrations showed against Aston Villa, and he will not score the goals he used to on the right of a diamond

bad luck guys. i think chelsea played very good football last night. i reckon it is alot better overall than when we played liverpool 2 weeks back

the only problem was the finishing. 3 times in this game deco, anelka and malouda aimed straight at the keeper

i dont feel mad. i think the overall performance is commendable. seeing JT jumping and fuming was hilarious! Good to see JC is back too.

just one point a drift from the Manures. All we need to do now is practice defending.

p/s: ivanovic still can't bloody cross!

even lampard didnt score, but he still make few good passing, like drog's goal n a through pass ball to malouda. but 1 goal in 9 matches looks bad oso.

mayb for nex game hoping tat carlo will change joey for deco n zhirkov for malouda. let joey take right diamond.

Yesterday Chelsea played well..
Chelsea did well with their high tempo attacking style , short passes and through balls..
We shouldnt blame our strikers as they really did a gud job , but Friedel and Villa's defenders especially Collins manage to block Chelsea's attacking flow quite well..
The only problem i could see yday is poor defending against SET PIECES!!!!!!

hehe that's quite creative. headline writers have the time of their lives when chelsea or liverpool lose. there's just so many captions they can come up with tongue.gif

Both goals scored through set pieces, Chelsea had many opportunities but Villa's defenders and keeper were keys to saving most of our chances. They had a lot of chances through counter-attacking too btw. Drogba's shot remind me of the goals he scored during our pre-season against inter and ac milan. Drogba doesn't seem to get much of the balls tho...heavily marked..

i'd say we have two things to work on before the next game. overall i think we can create chances. im sure anelka can get back to his scoring ways, dont see deco and malouda going in the score sheet very often.

firstly, the set piece defending. if other teams can do it, we can do it.

secondly, work on our own set piece! we had more corners than them there is no reason why we cant get goals out of set pieces too! darn it. put in alex, terry, ivanovic, drogba and anelka in there and we have a list of possible goal scorers, they are all very tall and known for scoring goals through headers. heck, i even miss lampard's superman headers now :S

its not his fault we lost. i think we play brilliant football and chances were created. he doesnt deserve any blame. compared to scolari where we only play on the middle of the field with no penetration.

so guys, dont go for his head just yet. we're still in the running. we're yet to face man utd, we can make them drop points by winning them. but we must also stop dropping points from games against smaller teams.

Not CA's fault, just not chelsea's luck. I think we play beautiful football there. Due to current bosingwa's form, maybe ivanovic should be given a chance? he shall be able to provide some attacking on the right.

i think that many teams underestimate ivanovic's attacking abilities as he is more defensive compared to other full backs. which could actually be a good thing. we dont really need two fullbacks flying down everytime we attack, the occasional bombarding of ivanovic on the right flank will surprise opponents. besides, he will help a great deal marking in the box and also a threat in the opponent's box. ivanovic to take over bosingwa for now! biggrin.gif

ivanovic is slow! can't you see ashley young leaving him like a perodua kancil. he shoudn't be going up and "try" to cross all the time. i hope when J Cole is back to fitness our right sided problem will be solved!
