Totally Essien pass was terrible...Iva still not a good RWB...but a gud RB....Bosingwa still the best...

Carlo train Hutch lah..to be Bos backup...

I think the rain slow down most of the player...even Lampard header was missed....

Kalou still not suitable to be a flanker...a center forward is the best...behind striker...

A shocking 4-3-3...hahahhaha...

The flow of passing was pretty bad. The players looked rather tired in the match. We squeezed that goal out but credits to the lads, they fought til the end.

a Lacklustre display from the blues...porto was dangerous all the time...lucky anelka manage 2 scored the 2nd time...otherwise a draw in the card......still the players are not improving...it shows..the need of drogba...ivanovic is great today...his crosses are damn good too

MOTM: cech (he saved cfc from defeat) sweat.gif

you're wrong bro. iva did awesome defending against the porto attack. he chased down attacking wingers with everything he's got, manage to stole the ball too. threatened in the opponent's box in set pieces and did great defending on the right back side of our box. yes, he isnt as good as bosingwa on the attack, but i think he did very good covering for bosingwa last night.

overall, i think it was a team effort. i would say that kalou needs to improve loads if he wants another chance at the first eleven again. essien improved his game on the second half after a bad first half showing.

i just hate it when we play in the rain at night sad.gif

I didnt watch yesterday match, but a lot of comment said our 1st half is terrible, so Essien is the culprit? Kalou only good when starting from sub.

very average performance but again we have to take a look at the chances created. it could've easily been 2 or 3 nil to us, despite our below par showing. look back at the kalou header which was brilliantly saved, and lamps who made the wrong decision when put through one on one by kalou as well if i'm mistakened. he tried to dribble sideways and was promptly muscled out of possession. apart from that lamps missed a totally unmarked header from 5 yards in the opening minutes as well.

so there's a lot of questions that need to be answered, particularly from essien (shockingly bad passing mainly in the 1st half but he slowly upped his game in the 2nd) lamps (movement was good, passing and finishing below average), ballack (missing for most of the game) and kalou (slow to release the ball and a few bad decisions, but redeemed himself a little with an assist for nic, coupled with a good header which was brilliantly saved)

defense was allright, cech was fantastic. anelka got the winning goal so i'd say he did his job.
perhaps the heavy rain affected our performance a little? u could see porto struggling to play their normal game as well. good to earn 3 points even when u don't play well, but its sad we didn't get a 2 goal lead to give some cameos to studge/borini/bruma/hutch. patience boys..hopefully it won't be long now.

p . s: bruno alves should not have been on the pitch the moment he elbowed terry in the face. that's a straight red card and a penalty in my book. its amazing how our captain got up with no signs of ill effect, but even more bizarre is how the ref and linesman missed the incident. would be interesting to submit some video evidence to see if uefa are as 'committed' to punishing diving as they are with violent assaults like that. ahh wishful thinking.

kerplunk, i think there is an opening for a pundit position on ESPN. lol. jk.

yes indeed, our midfield switched off a few times in the last 20 minutes of the game too. we were desperately defending of every shot that came towards our goal like what stoke did and that did not impress me. its true as the thread title says, we escaped this time. if we want to be real title contenders, we must up our game. and to be fair, porto did very well too last night.

If you look closely when Iva attack..Porto always attack wide on the right.....even hulk at the centre switch to attack on the right when iva on attack phase...he defend okey..but he always leave the position...even ricky backup him...
