i wouldn't put it down solely to ballack's absence, but the squad issue is a serious one. without essien, who's been a MOTM contender for each game he's played so far (save for a couple), we look significantly weaker. i hope ancelotti has something up his sleeve. maybe lamps will step up when the time comes.

i kinda feel that ballack bring alot of stability to our squad this year. He defend, he pass, he attack, maybe is because lamps not yet perform.

Second that, Ballack is the only one who is comfortable in the diamond system. We lack stability without him around.

Since last season, i feel Alex is always better than Carvalho. Hope he get back his fitness soon.

im glad that kalou did his job as a striker in the box, altho after a few frustrating misses, he managed to get two goals, should have been more, but at least he made up for it. overall, i think the team played really well and almost everybody is on form, ballack was really fired up on the attack, lampsy gaining back his form and scoring a superb goal, deco with his crazy passes. just awesome. let me comment on every single player tongue.gif

Wilkins - Carvalho not dropped rclxms.gif
Assistant boss insists Carvalho was rested against Atletico smile.gif

Chelsea assistant boss Ray Wilkins has insisted Ricardo Carvalho was rested against Atletico Madrid in midweek and not dropped.

The defender failed to track Richard Dunne for the equaliser in Chelsea's 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa last Saturday, leaving some to believe the Portugal international was dropped for the UEFA Champions League victory.

But Wilkins claims the Chelsea coaching staff are perfectly happy with Carvalho and he was simply rested for Wednesday' 4-0 triumph.

The Blues assistant boss told Sky Sports News: "He wasn't dropped for Wednesday night - we have to look at the size of our squad and we have to look at the amount of players we have and the amount of quality players we have.

"Ricardo wasn't dropped, he was rested. He played three games on the spin and then he went away and played international football on two occasions, so when it came to the game on Wednesday Carlo (Ancelotti) decided that he would leave him out of that situation.

COLE definitely have my vote for the diamond AMC position over DECO. Good body strength, able to dribble pass player, plenty of tricks. With J.COLE, DROG, ANELKA we have 3 fast dribbler which come handy during counter attack. Of course i believe DECO has better passing accuracy.
*
Sorry, i think Deco short pass maybe good but long pass/crosses is always overhited. J Cole are way better in-term of dribble and passess. i notice that He keep using outside foot to curve the ball yesterday.

And why i saw Di Santos sit at chelsea area?

i missed 10 minutes of the first half. it looks like we're very strong after all. but i did not see too many youngsters in there, except for sturridge. sturridge also proved that he isnt ready yet. we've created alot of chances with our midfield powerhouse, we need a better finisher. kalou seems to be putting the balls behind the net more often these days, very good for him. sturridge needs to step up if he wants more minutes in games. overall, it was a mauling. LOL.

i hope hilario is alright. turnbull wasnt tested at all. alex and ivanovic was awesome. really solid at the back. i can see ivanovic doing those jumping headers like terry when the ball comes flying in from the opponent's half tongue.gif bella and ferreira was awesome too. especially the left back, bella seems tired sometimes and his crossings could be better. bally made some mistakes but was consistent overall, deco still at his good form. malouda isnt too bad either, could have made better decisions though. joey kept his standard and desperate for a goal i can see laugh.gif. drogba continues his road to 200!
*
Sturridge still need alot of game, maybe CA should start borini instead.

in overall, it quite a performance from the blues and our winning has been ensured when bolton defender(forgot his name) got red carded.. we really miss ashley cole as a left back since feirera is not good enough to cover for his role.. again, Ricky show a shacky performance; always losing his man (elmander).. he really lucky because ivanovic played really well last night otherwise ricky will loss his 1st eleven for sure if elmander score last night..
*
I never like ricky. tongue.gif. Hopefully we can get a good results next week vs MU.

its not based on one game. at first i thought riccy was back to his great form in the charity shield game against united. he got man of the match if im not mistaken. but he has shown that he isnt at his best in the villa game and the bolton game. alex was really solid while riccy was not in the first team last season. he also played in the reserves well. besides, alex does not go up as high as riccy does, he stays at the back most of the time, he can take his place imho. im not condemning riccy, but i think if we want to win, we have to field in all our on form players. you know very well that the attacking department can missed many chances but score just one goal and get all the credit, the defenders makes just one mistake and takes all the blame. i would still stick with alex if i were carlo. lol. ivanovic is on a roll right now both in centre and right back. bosingwa is out and bella would be another option. i choose iva because he's younger, faster and last longer. i did see bella getting tired in one of our away games. but these are all what i think tongue.gif

50 cent.

i agree with u bro. and i trust GH choice for dumping ricky and choosing Alex last season, and i would agree also to dump ricky back into the becnh this season. Ricky have been shaky for a lot of matches (Wigan, Aston) especially for high ball and set piece with cech still have problem dealing with it, u should notice it if u all really watch all Chelsea match.

Although Alex is slow sometime but at least this can be covered by terry and maybe essien as backup. But this season our main problem is on high ball and set piece, so Alex is still a good choice compare to ricky in partnering Terry with Cech in the goal.
