i am happy with the win, but im disappointed with the performance. we dont look like we're gonna win the champions league with performance like that. lampard is under par in scoring, which is something we really need. kalou no where to be seen to be honest, no impact in the game. our counter attacks were very slow which i guess probably lead no nothing. still there are still some defensive mistakes which would really cost us. did you guys see terry getting so furious at one time, this should be the spirit of all the players, not switching off after a 1 goal lead. malouda isnt really suited for the diamond altho i admire his workrate, he defends and attacks. we seriously need to play like how we played in pre season. awesome control of midfield, superb goals by the strikers, solid defending at the back.

and whats wrong with the ref? ballet might suite him more instead of contact sport.

0-1 to Chelsea

Nice cut in from the right by Ivanovic. Pass to Anelka to shot from outside, nice curl and...

GOAL!!!!

For the first time we score a goal before half an hour mark this season.

It seem to be in the 2nd half, we are lacking in midfield, especially passing. We need Ballack wink.gif

Eventhough we win , it was a poor performance from Chelsea...
Players give away possession very easily..
We cnt play like this with other teams , especially Top Clubs..
APOEL nearly scored de equalizer..
Last week lose 2 Wigan bt yet no improvement..
If we perform like this how gonna we win Champ League and Premier League Title.. sweat.gif

Kalou nt suitable 2 b placed as striker I think, he shud be placed as RW / LW..
No impact 4rm him..
Our counter attack still very poor..

i sincerely hope ancelotti went berserk in the dressing room after the game. unacceptable second half performance. slacking after earning a mere 1 goal lead will cost us against bigger and better teams. the likes of utd/liverpool will pick us off if we pull something like this. kalou had no impact, but the same can be said about lamps and malouda in midfield. only good performance that i can recall is from essien and cech. wonder which chelsea will show up against pool on sunday. on a brighter note ashley remains fit and uninjured while deco and joey are in contention for a cameo versus the reds. something tells me we're going to need at least one of them.

A win is good to get us back on track. If we're in a losing rut, confidence will def drop, and that'd be more detrimental.

Liverpool at home will be cagey, don't think there will be any UCL style heroics the last time we met. Drogs and Nic upfront to bully Carragher and Co, while Ess is needed to neutralise Gerrard once again. Torres will be the danger man again, at least now no Alonso to score a freaky goal.

we have the home advantage..that'll be a huge confident boost no doubt. but if we concede first, its going to be an uphill battle.
we need to break the silly habit of giving away 1 goal before snapping into action. an on form terry and riccy partnership will do wonders for hilario's security. like aw13 said its going to be a tight game, though an early goal will definitely loosen things up a bit.

interesting anecdote i uncovered from another forum which puts things in perspective. the victory against apoel was our 1st away win on foreign soil in about 2 years. when u put it that way, i guess it doesn't sound too bad. besides that we need to remember some of our big guns like boss, drogs and ballack were missing. here's hoping they'll be the difference on sunday!

Let's prove to the arrogant benitez we're the better team.

Btw, I thought hilario would play against AOEPL. No game preparation 4 him before pool's match?

haih i found that odd as well. i guess ancelotti didn't see it as an acceptable risk. cech had to start at apoel, and it proved to be the correct decision with his straightforward handling and smart saves. baptism of fire vs liverpool this sunday for hilario..probably ancelotti will be giving him a good pep talk.
