I dunno why. Maybe they pick on me cos I dont know anything about AV stuffs. By the way, I did ask the shop attendant what model is this and how old. She said its only arrive their shop 6 months ago and being display at the shelf 6 months ago. I take her word for it and thought the sub also is a "quite" new model. After that I did some googling on the Internet, I only found out that that sub should be places in museum instead.

Added on September 16, 2009, 2:18 pmI am actually trying to get in touch with their management office and see if their managers can help me solve this dispute. Anyone have the contacts of their Managing Director, Mr Tan or any other managers there that I can speak to and get help? Thanks.

ckf8829, after studying their company profile, looks like they focus on renting equipment to SMEs. I assume small business like personal AV equipment doesnt interest them and when walk in customer just happen to enquire about a price, they mark it up extremely high. A fool like me who doesnt know anything get conned easily by the sweet talk and lies.

At first I thought places like Harvey Norman is expensive and price are not negotiable. Thats why I try small shops where you can negatiate price. But now I learned that atleast places like Harvey Norman are honest and they have no reason to sell you equipment that are other people rubbish. Also their prices are not simply mark up as they see fit and are controlled by manufacturer.

Future equipments I will buy at Harvey Norman and will not pay too much attentions to their price that are slightly a bit high. I am willing to pay slightly higher to be happy, unlike now, so frustrated and cant do much about it except ranting here.

Places like Harvey Norman and Desa keeps much stock on HT gears, and their prices can be relatively cheap as they cater to both spectrum of the public, the general public who wants value for money products and brands, as well as elites who wants performances over cost.

I strongly recommend HN and Desa to audition their stuff, and they can usually point you to a good system that fits your budget.

Too bad u learnt your lesson so painfully, but at least you have shared your experiences with others to skip this outlet.

PS. On the sub cable, you can try moving your existing RCA cable away from other cables/wires to see if you can remove the hum. I wont be surprised its the sub itself thats humming as its showing its age?? I would not get a RM100 Monster cable to match your sub, unless you are planning to upgrade to something much better in the near future.

Hi Gohkokho,

It is difficult to recommend the type of speaker cable for your subwoofer without knowing what kind of speaker connections available from your Amp.

From your postings, I gather that your Amp has RCA type of adapter for your speakers. I am also guessing that you have a home-theatre Amp and therefore you can use a pair of RCA cables to plug into your Amp. However, you did not mention how you modify the other end to plug into your subwoofer.

If you are adventurous enough, you can go to Jalan Pasar (Pasar Road) in Pudu and look for shielded speaker cables from the electronics shops and pay the technician a small fee to solder the right type of connectors for you.

I hope you find what you are looking for. smile.gif

Some how I managed to get some attentions by the email I send to their management. The sales attendant called me up and scold me for accusing and complaining about her.

WTF???!!! SCOLD CUSTOMER???!!!

After she finish, she pass the phone to her supervisor and his supervisor turn to grill me and defend her. I told my part of the story and argue for like half an hour on the phone with the supervisor. Now I know the the sub I bought is previously used by them to rent the equipment for showroom events for a few years already, which is not told to me when I bought this sub.

I told the supervisor I dont want to argue anymore, she got her part of her story to defend herself and I got my part of the story which I am not happy about. What I want is solution. He said he cant decide and he will get the principle to call me. I told him to f**k off. I want solution. Dont ask anybody to call me and argue who is right and who is wrong. Customer is always right. I want solution to solve this dispute. He said he will discuss with his principle and get back to me. I doubt that will happen.

Now I am really pissed. For the first time in my life I am not happy with my purchase and then I get f**cked back by the seller for complaining to their management.

So please tell me all the AV forum in Malaysia. I want to go complain and rant there. vmad.gif

What the hell, I dont care, here is the shop details.

Website: http://www.mediaplex.com.my/
Sales gal name: Sharon, indian gal
Supervisor name: Cant remember, a singh.

I can see that your Amp has a Front, Centre, and Surround speakers output ports. The speakers cable is using the clip-on type and traditionally it only requires simple soldering to secure the the tips of the cable. It depends on how much you are willing to spend. You can get simple cheap speakers cable from Pasar Road or a slightly better quality ones from audiophile shops. Just remember to keep the cable shortest possible so that you won't have to coil the cable. Coiling cable will deteriorate the quality of transmission.

Eh... it looks like a Yammy V365.... 2 hdmi in....

Anyway... on the left of yr front speakers connectors is the sub output (in black), and its a RCA jack. Simply use any RCA - RCA cable will do.... even those red/white/yellow ones.... no need to get Monsters... unless u wan to la...

I will take one color, then strip them apart from the others, and use that to connect the AVR to the sub, into the low level input of yr sub. Just make sure its long enuff to clear the other cables/wires, and that they dont cross any power cables... u may get a hum that way....

u amp has a sub woofer output, just get a RCA cable and connect to the Low Level Input

Low Level input is better than High Level as there is less distortion..

not to add fire, but you could get yourself a 5+1 channel speakers for ~RM800 (yamaha brand)...

you dont need expensive speakers since your setup is just entry level AV .

Yes, its a Yamaha V365. icon_rolleyes.gif
Actually I give up looking for decent sub woofer cable. So I am just going to do exactly like you said, took my spare Astra RCA cable, strip out 1 color and use it. My ears not yet reach the level to differentiate between good quality sound and a bad one. Still learning from my friends, they have like 10k HT system. So its good for me now. laugh.gif

Thanks, right now my HT system are complete with the recent sub woofer purchase. I think not going to change it now, not for few years to come I guess. thumbup.gif

u should cancel ur card charges , call in ur credit company, im sure he'll call u instantly help u settle nicely,

good thing about card is u can cancel on the spot ma, i wonldnt wanna deal to those kind of attitude, happen to me once in IOI mall, dont wanna say where, i end up purchase stuff in ampcorp mall instead of return there to buy...

ps: on your set up, output from ur amp, use the LFE or sub out, then use/test with any coaxial cable first, think sheilded ones better, before buying expensive ones, mana tau, u satisfied with the sound liao leh.

Hwoarang45, are you sure we can do that? I thought we need the vendor themselves to actually cancel the card charges from their own machine. Otherwise everyone will be swiping and then call up to cancel it soon after the purchase. tongue.gif

Currently I am using RCA cable as I am having difficulties finding a better shielded cable. Most of the electrical shops selling Monster cable only. Need to find time and go Pasar Road. biggrin.gif

passed by that shop couple of days ago n decided to check out their 30% 50% discount offer. there were mostly opened box or without box items. a few pairs of speakers were dented or chipped at the corners while boxed ones r stacked in the storeroom. my friend was thinking of getting a pair of cheapo speakers to begin with since he's a newbie n morever just renting a room.

contrary to all ur bad experiences with sharon the sa, she served me n my friend very well indeed. never tired or complained when requested to audition at least half dozen sets of energy n athena speakers. though outspoken, found her av product knowledge to be atrocious n disgustingly shallow. she may not be able to bullsh*t or mislead me, but by just observing how unsuspecting customers got convinced by her selling skill was simply astonishing. i won't say they were conned or duped by her coz i consider energy/athena to be respected name in av. its just the age or condition of the speakers that i found the sa to be untruthful or even lying.

so at the end of the day did we walk out empty handed. no. we found a pair of energy speakers (genuinely manufactured in canada) in perfect condition without any observable defect n paid 60% of rcp.

later found out that both the sa were just part-timers.

Thanks Poadster, I will try to seek advice from the officers and see if my case worth reporting.

aquest, yes I agree the SA was helpful to demo their product. But to me, that is her duty to do so. I am sure her employer did not hire her just sit down and do nothing. So its nothing to be praise about there. Its her job to demo.

As a seller, the information you provide to your customer is a very important fact that will influence your customer decision to purchase or not. Like you mentioned, she is obviously lying about the age of the product.

Take me for example, if the SA would have told me "this sub is a used unit and we have been renting it to our customer for few years already", instead of "this sub is a 6 months old stock and have been displayed on our shelf for 6 months only", my decision would be totally not buying the sub at all, pay extra 200 and buy a new Yamaha sub. I dont even care what brand it is. If you dont consider that a conning or duping a customer, then I dont know what is your terms for it.

Worst still, when the supervisor admited that the SA is giving me wrong information, and he did not even apologize and instead argued with me and defended the SA. It sucks.

This is the sub I bought. Can any AV experts here tell me if this sub a 6 months old model or 6 years old model? Mr. Google is unable to help. Thanks.
