Just got my car for 3 days and i've already noticed some problems.

1. Rear left brakes have "tick tick tick" sound when brake is applied. (M-line = drum brakes). Very annoying.

2. Driver seatbelt light on the dashboard console not working. Doesnt light up when the seatbelt is not fasten.

Anyone faced these two problems, mind to share how to solve (other than bring back to the infamous Proton SC)?

Thanks
*
1. That ticking sound u mentioned.... so far i hv not encountered on mine yet. Current mileage is 6.5k. But i felt that the pedal does have the pulsation indicating the rear drums ticking. Experienced from driving an old old oldddddddddd car (20 years plus Civic). But it didn't really went worse as i had it readjusted for better braking feel. So not sure about it.

2. Mine too. (B-Line model). I gathered that our Malaysian Persona does not have this feature.

Really?

Regarding maintenance record, if sell to second car dealer or trade-in, there isn't any difference, from my recent experience.

But void warranty, I have no idea. Will consult my SA before deciding then.
*
Agree with you. I sold my previous car (MyVi 1.3 auto) and they dun even bother to know and see the service records. It's very rare that the price of the car will be better even if there is recorded maintance with good servicing tracks.

Heck, the service booklet and warranty booklet i accidentally left out from the car during the sale and they didn't even come and asked it from me. tongue.gif

talking about brake..who know how persona braking system works?
i mean..whether 4 brake system or 2 brake sytem?
mine is MLine..front disc, back drum.
seem like only the front discs will grip when apply brake...and the back drum for hand brake?

Basically all the same.

Go here... very good read.

Updates regarding my rear drum brakes "tick" sound:

SC said they will have to change the whole rear brake system as this is a common problem with Persona(s).  (My a**, if this is a common problem, means after changing, the sound will still appear, rite? Didn't wanna argue with them so let them change..)

ETA for brakes to arrive = 1mth sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif

And heck, I haven't even driven it for a month!! Already need to change brakes!

I did ask the SA if i would to change the brakes from other workshops.. and she said, Jangan! Nanti takde warranty cover~!!

*sigh*
*
btw, how does the rear brake problem feels like? and roughly when (total KM) will this problem arise?

just got my car back after replacing the IAFM. Smooth now... no more knocking sound from it.

Gathered that the sound comes from a valve activated mechanism located at the bottom portion of the manifold is not properly manufactured. Some could be rectified by taking it apart and modifying it and some may require for replacement.

I am going back to the SC later this noon to have my RHF wheel knocking noise rectified. I didnt get it done this morning as the SA didn't exactly know what i was referring to and was in a rush to go back to office.

I gathered that the noise generated while turning on uneven road was due to a steering hose / valve or some sort. SC gonna call me later to confirm the part availability.

To update on the findings later on.

one more question.

last time i try friends gen2 non cps/iafm engine. the very first generation gen2.  auto transmission.

when uphill and downhill. the engine will downshift gear by itself.. will feel car jerking as rpm raise due to the downshift

does it same to persona?  unsure.gif
*
Not sure how what u experienced feels like. But i hv been driving my Persona for about 5 months now. The gear change is superb. Smooth and smart.

Apology for the late reply guys. I'm afraid that the metal kluncking sound is still there..sighh...just that it reduce the number of occurence..

when can our beloved proton can b improve? sad.gif
*
My RHF wheel metal clunking noise is ALMOST non audible. What is fixed might amaze some of you guys here... They just fix a "orifice valve" INSIDE the rubber tubing just under the power steering fluid plastic reserve tank. It is said to reduce the sudden surge of oil pressure that causes the noise.

Original part from Proton.

Strange but true....it does work.

Here is my review:

BEFORE

The clunking noise is always audible whenever i pass certain usual roads while turning into lorongs. So i am quite confident under what road and driving conditions how the clunking might occur.

AFTER

The usual road and turning into lorong conditions.... the clunking noise is gone completely.

BUT... once a while it does have the annoying clunking noise when driving while turning along shopping mall ramps that have deep grooves in them (pavement).

So... its still under my observation and i have informed Proton SC of my findings the 2nd day after the installation of the "orifice valve".

What is that "orifice valve" you may wonder?

From my view, as i have seen it while they are doing the installation... its just a simple hard plastic with reduced hole passage for the oil to go through it. It is fitted inside the power steering rubber hose just before / after the power steering fluid plastic reserve tank. That means its non visible.

I witnessed the installation of this item while at SC.

Everyone here, i was unable to capture the item picture to share with you guy as it was installed in the power steering hose. BTW, here is the product code / number: PW895228 - ORIFICE VALVE, the price only RM3.83 nett. Hope this help you guy reduce the klunking sound. It wont 100% slove the problem, at less spend RM3.83 reduce it is kinda worth. Good Luck~

if you dont mind, i have the product number for your reference.
*
Yes this is the item. It costs that much eh? hahah... not expensive at all. I wonder why its not included earlier during manufacturing... And yes... it solves probably 95% of the klunking sound. yawn.gif

guys... a light at my number/alphabet at auto gear (D,L,N,1,2,3 etc)..sumetime ON sumtime OFF. quite annoying coz when drive at night...tiba2 off..and suddenly its turn on again  sweat.gif  . is there some wire loose??  unsure.gif
*
its not the wiring that is loose. its the socket for the LED that is slightly loose. all that is needed is to send to SC and they will dismantle the whole middle portion plastic cover just to access it and fix it...

mine was like urs too... it happened 2 days after i took delivery of the car. shakehead.gif

i noticed its quite a common problem. my neighbour's Persona is like that too....but he didnt bother fixing it.
