if u can confirm that there is no vibration during the shot taken, then is not necessary to have VR to on...well, my D90 manual have suggest that if ur cam was on a tripod, is best to turn off the VR...but if there is any wind blowing ur cheapo tripod and cause ur cam shake, then better turn it on...=)

Darn,.,... my D40 seems to have a scratch at the mirrors near the sensor there. One big line in the middle. Maybe the sensor is the one damaged.

Use NORMAL for hand-holding from a fixed position. Use ACTIVE if you're in a helicopter, sand rail, or motorcycle.

a.ihsan: what overheat in a flash is not the batteries, but the flash bulb leaving the flash on when it overheats does not affect it, as the flash has overheat failure prevention, when overheat it'll jz go into idle mode
silver_de_gene: the major problem Nissin Di866 currently have is there is error when trying to CLS with SB900 the other problem is some, not all, Di866 r unable to iTTL with camera sometimes
as i explained in earlier pages, UV filters suppose to protect lenses from UV rays, but do have much difference from not putting UV filters so basically UV filters act as lens protector, but sometimes UV filters give more problems than helping, especially creating flares if u want to buy UV filters, cheapos r good enough d the only difference expensive UV filters r they have less tendency to have flares, but not 100% eliminate flares
y taking macro pics nid take out UV filter, cos to prevent flares
what ppl meant by lens that is able to shoot in low light means u can shoot with high shutter speed without having underexposed pics this is done by having larger aperture, means smaller f number. with any image stabilization tech, u can increase the shutter speed higher somemore without getting blurry pics
is best to turn off VR when using tripod cos the VR try to compensate small vibration cause by air movement or ground vibration which r negligible the compensation made by VR r too much than needed, creating negative result instead of helping
mybiebie: Only expensive high end lenses such as 70-200 VR have ACTIVE n NORMAL VR

Di866 uses wireless trigger, IR or other tech im not sure Di622 can CLS too, but detects camera built-in flash or main flash for trigger Added on October 20, 2009, 7:05 pmQUOTE(faiz92 @ Oct 20 2009, 07:01 PM) general> 18-200 also got http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/18200/18200-vr.htm18-200 is expensive rite? i only say normally expensive or special purpose lenses have both type of VR This post has been edited by General_Nic: Oct 20 2009, 07:06 PM

hi there... i'm new in this section.. i'm the proud owner of Nikon D40 (don't laugh, I bought because of my course requirement) and it's 2 years old now... And I have the problem to autofocus my camera when i want to shot with auto mode... i set the lens to A, and the camera mode to Auto, but when i press the shutter half, it doesn't make any sound... but when i set the lens to M, and manually focus the subject, then I can capture the photo.. I wonder why, and should I bring my DSLR to get fixed? I love my DSLR because i invested so much for this baby... please help me. Thanks!
