general:
hmm, what u said does make sense. i found a book title 'digital photography' says this about depth of field
there are 3 elements that control depth of field.
1) aperture : changing the size of the lens aperture radically alters the amount of the scene, from foreground to background, which is captured in focus
2) focal length of the lens : the longer the focal length, the narrower the depth of field
3)focusing distance: the closer the subject is to the lens the narrower the depth of field increasesi'm quite confused in 2) and 3). is focal length of the lens meaning zoom in and out where focusing distance is how close the distance between u and the subject? let's say, i have a wide aperture and should i zoom in for more bokeh or should i move closer to the subject? as i know, u can't do both right? err, can anyone help?
u can zoom in or move closer to subject at the same
covering majority of the frame with your subject can create greater bokeh

After reading General_Nic guide, I take another bokeh using 55mm f/5.6 (with built-in flash turned on) and here's the result:

Nice? Not nice? I don't know

try taking without flash, so the background wont be so dark
output without will be similar to silver_de_gene's pic

ok i share one of this shot that i got, a snap shot without permission of course
blur is nice, blur with some light playing behind is much more better.
Always hunt for light source
critics and comment are welcome

are u sure its af-S? as i know only 2 prime for basic portrait which is 60mm and 105 mm both f2.8 with af-s
60mm = rm 2,000.00
105 mm = rm 3,000.00
third party lens to be consider
