the point is how many good pics u get from 10 k of shooting  icon_idea.gif
show us some pics man yawn.gif

lol... Most good pics already posted here... Out of the 7k (3.5k is not shoot by me, i bought 2nd hand) i think most of them are failures/snapshots/travel/family shots. And my kit lens is not sharp, my friend's sony A300 kit lens is much much sharper. So sad...

2 days more i will be in singapore, let's pray i can get some good snaps =)

nikon got the best kitlens man, sony and canons kitlens no value in market as far as i can see especially sony kitlens.
I still love my 18-55 VR smile.gif

Mine is non VR sad.gif
Maybe it's my D40's prob then... Even if i put of my tripod, use timer 20 sec, it's still not very sharp, of cuz sharper than PnS but still... Lose to my friend's A300. I used his A300 and my D40 with the same settings, both on tripod, his one is definitely sharper and more real.

Haiz maybe my lens' autofocusing got a bit problem, sometimes it cannot autofocus, need take out the lens and out back only can autofocus. So I guess the AF is not that accurate now...

Problems with the mount and contacts, one of the disadvantages of the plastic mount of kit lenses. Hope there are improvements in the VR version.
*
Yah plastic mount doh.gif
Sometimes when i take my cam out of the bag then cannot AF le... need "remount" it by loosen it a bit and tighten back.
And my autofocus... not that sharp anymore... Haiz...

hey guys, is it worth to buy D40 now? erm...wondering if can buy cheap DSLR 1st ....by the way,how much is the market price for 2nd hand D40?
*
D40? Im using now. Very suitable for beginners, easy to use and nice quality. But if you need more when you become a better photographer then maybe u can consider better models like D90.

Guys, im back from AFA 2009 in singapore. One of my 628 shots~

every bg also got vertical shutter, the difference is ,d40/d40x/d60 cant use it unless IR remote shutter is on.
*
IR not convenient eh... Cannot autofocus in the vertical shutter, need to press the AE/AF button to autofocus first. Haiz >.<

yes, i saw some shops in plaza lowyat still selling. But i suggest you get at least d60, cuz my experience told me 6 mega pixels is not enough if you often crop your photo...

QUOTE(ronnt88 @ Nov 30 2009, 04:06 PM)
Hi guys & gals.. I'm a real noob here at photography, just bought an entry level Nikon D5000 55mm kit + Nikkor 35mm/1.8f lense.

I have a couple of noob questions that I hoped the sifus here can share :

1) Should I keep the original 55mm lense or sell it? (I kinda prefer the pics with the 35mm but the 55mm has 3x zoom & wide angle)
2) Any helpful sites / threads where I can learn more about basic photography skills & tactics so I can make full use of this camera?

thanks icon_rolleyes.gif

Of course keep the 55mm, it's your kit lens and it's an zoom lens. 35mm f1.8 is a prime lens, it cannot zoom. When you go travel you will be using 18-55mm, because it's an all rounded lens. Prime lens is not that versatile...

I don't have 35mm F1.8 T.T no money...
Hope to upgrade to D90 first before getting the lens... Anyway, anyone used D90? Is the noise control good? D40's noise control is pretty weak...

Ails. Why don't add rm200 more, around rm430 can get Nissin Di622 already. High power, swivel left right top behind. Very versatile bro...
