Last month, Fotokem 1 Utama quote me A700 body Brand new at RM3,000.00 nett, claim to have 3 unit in stock.

hezda: Yes, the 70-300mm G is very good. Sharp wide open with nice bokeh.

SpOOkY: I found it sharp at 300mm but you must have sufficient light. Indoors, in a Sony Style/Sony Center, it won't shine. It is also a heck lot sharper than other lenses at 300mm.

Kul | Mo0: The A200 is even cheaper. Why bother, if it's only about price? If you sold your F58 for RM1000 and bought the SB-900 for RM1500... you'd have lost RM300 in the end, and lost the Quick Swivel Bounce.

ohmyzgod: The A700 has a 12 megapixel CMOS; the A550 has a 14 megapixel CMOS which has better noise performance than the A700.

The Sony 50mm F1.8 DT SAM can focus to 34cm close while the Nikon and Canon 50mm F1.8s can only focus to 45cm close. It's a new optical design.

General_Nic: The F58 is RM1130 on average.

Dont forget testing lens inside shops can give u weird results coz of the fluorescent lighting. The flicker can frighten u when u see a rm8000 lens showing a screwed up exposure.

BTW, since some of you were asking bout the 70-300mm G, let me say that i absolutely it..
Advantage against the 70-200mm f2.8:

1. Cheaper price (Tamron/Sigma all above RM3k, Sony RM5k ++)
2. Lighter weight, great for long shooting session
3. Built in focus hold and focus limiter button (only Sony f2.8 has these, Sigma and Tamron doesn't)
4. 62mm filter thread (saves money )

Obvious disadvantage:
1. The aperture. f2.8 helps a lot if you shoot indoor / low light

Last time I asked Darren, he told me I can wash the cars.

this proves even more that basic gears for Sony is cheaper
now F58 freaking cheap, last year my uncle got it for RM1300

General_Nic: LOL maybe your uncle picked the wrong shop. When it was launched, it was already selling for RM1170! It went down to RM10xx for a few months.
