QUOTE(lonewolf @ Sep 9 2009, 11:30 AM) can explain ar?.. kinda noobeveryone's learning here lol dont worry. YTLC has a 67+% share in Gopeng. even if you buy Gopeng you'd just be buying something that YTLC is also buying. what you are saying is like saying, if I buy Gopeng, i'd be buying a part of you as well, assuming you're a gopeng shareholder. that's not right. put it this way. If you buy YTLC, you'd be buying a part of Gopeng as well. not the other way around. this part is true for all the conglomerates. IJM, IOI, YTL, GENTING etc etc etc.

QUOTE(cherroy @ Sep 9 2009, 02:22 PM) If one doesn't know about FKLI, better don't touch FCPO, as FCPO could be more complicated than FKLI as it is actually involved in real CPO delivery/purchase by those real players, like KLK and IOI. You bought the FCPO contract and don't sell, you have obligation to receive the delivery FCPO to you house, 25 tonnes per contract. Just my 2 cents. the OSK futures guy told us Make sure you close your positions. you don't want the lori to send 25 tonnes of palm oil to your house the next day. Added on September 9, 2009, 2:33 pmQUOTE(aurora97 @ Sep 9 2009, 02:28 PM) The Exchange will enquire as to why you want to take delivery (i.e. Refinary, Plantation, Manufacturer etc...), last trading is 12pm on the 14th. 15th-20th tendering and so on. If delivery does take place for a speculator/retailer, most likely the broker will get a hefty fine. Normally retailers or speculators don't trade during spot month (current month is always known as spot month) - illiquid month since no trading occurs. wanna add on. i think most liquid month is 3rd month. QUOTE(mopster @ Sep 9 2009, 03:00 PM) wahh, never monitor half a day turn red already... i saw Adam's warning.... scary... will it be a long downtrend or just a steep correction ? OUH MAI GOD It's so cute! theoretically you can arbitrage by buying the ETF/select heavyweight stocks and short the FKLI. thought of doing that but .. lazy on a side note, i'm still maintaining my cash-is-king stance. liquidate liquidate liquidate!

QUOTE(cherroy @ Sep 9 2009, 03:15 PM) Wow, it is a big right issue. http://biz.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?f...09&sec=businessWow, Genting Singapore never register a profit before? it's rise has been a factoring of future profits & cash flows into the company. but Tan Sri keeps all most of a big part of the money to himself anyway..

QUOTE(lklatmy @ Sep 9 2009, 03:36 PM) Let me share the little bit I know about physical delivery of CPO in settlement of an open position in the futures market.I was involved in this last time but after I became a Remisier,I'm not involved anymore ,so with the lapse of time,my knowledge may be outdated.Devil may be able to provide better insight on this. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « In real life, the delivery of CPO to a retail client would not occur, there is procedure built in when the spot month is nearing expiry, the Clearing house will enquire from the futures broker as to the intention of their clients whether the client intend to take/effect physical delivery of the CPO.
At the same time, the initial margin on the spot month will also be increased progressively to match the full contract value as the expiry of the contract becomes nearer. This will ensure that the buyer/seller and the clearing house is fully protected in the event of default by one of the party.
If the client does not meet the increased minimum l margin requirement, the open contract will be forced sold before trading ceases. Then no physical delivery takes place.
The CPO delivery is at an approved port tank installation opted by the seller located in Port Klang,Butterworth or Pasir Gudang.not to the buyers address.Buyer must arrange for own transport to collect the CPO from the port tank installation. The rental of the port tank installation is prepaid by the seller for a period of 1 month(not quite sure about this )On expiry of one month and if the buyer fails to take delivery, further rental will be borne by him.
If seller fails to effect delivery, then the clearing house will step in and buy the oil from the cash market, deliver to the port tank installation, and charge the difference to the sellers account. thanks lklatmy. that cleared things up. the house thing probably was a joke by the broker.
