http://malaysiamuscle.blogspot.com/2009/07...above-70kg.html

1st- Reagan Kang – Pulau Pinang
2nd – Ahmad Tajudin Abu Bakar – Melaka
3rd – Syed Iqbal Syed Yusof – KL
4th – Adrian Hor – Pulau Pinang
5th – Md. Jasri Mat Yusof – ATM
6th – Nik Izani Fazly Nik Ahmad – Perak

Personally I feel registry is better than that 2nd place guy.

How do they categorise the contestants into different categories?

Hi. One question, Rippetoe's and Stronglift's seems to be using lower reps with higher weights for their workout sessions. Then, for someone who really am new in the gym and spending his life in front of the computer without any sometimes-going-out-for-a-jog and with high metabolism rate, should follow the lower reps with higher weights or should start with endurance training of using higher reps lower weights ?

Kinda new here, and really wants a fit figure in another 3months. And I'm underweight. Thanks.
*
3 months not possible...unless you're juiced. But you'll notice within 3 months you are stronger if you train and eat properly, just don't expect to see bulging muscles in 3 months.

The main idea of doing compound exercises with low reps and high weights for beginners is to gain strength first before going for mass building. So those programs are suitable for beginners.

High rep and low weights are for fat burning/better muscle definition after a mass building phase.

I should go with the low reps high weights then? Great and thanks. Another, the 3months target is for me to get the correct BMI not the muscles yet. But 6months to a year, for the big muscles.  rclxms.gif

It seems that they (gym people) teach us to higher reps low weight for beginner.
*
Well, they teach you that because they want you to practice the form, after that it's serious training. If not steady doing a squat only with the bar, how to increase the weight leh? So the low weight is for you to practice the form only. Once you get use to it, then it's time to start loading it.

No one here cares about BMI btw...my BMI is in the overweight range and it doesn't seem to bother me. BMI is not an absolute indicator of health because it's not accurate.

Hey guys, my left chest is bigger and thicker than my right one.

I'm not sure why this is the case but I'm guessing that it's because my right arm and shoulder are stronger than the left ones and so when I do presses, the right triceps and delt does more work compared to the chest while on the left side, since the triceps and shoulders are weak, the chest gets more pounding. Is it right to think that way?

And how do you guys curb such a problem? Add in another 3 sets for the right chest?

Thanks in advance.

flat/incline DB bench press.

I have the same problem. Now it's getting too hard to ignore. I replaced the barbell with the dumbbell, but there's more 'feel' on one side compared to the other, no matter how hard I concentrate. Been paying attention to my form, but to no avail >_>

Then it means your form is wrong...must be too heavy. Otherwise you are just paying too much attention to small details LOL.

Do DB flyes also.

Stupidest thing I've seen in the gym today: A skinny guy doing a lot of sets of deadlifts for 1 hour continuously, and even wrote down how much weight he lifted into a small notebook!

Me and darklight halfway on back training and noticed a skinny guy doing deadlifts, I was like, good at least there's someone knows something about training, so I considered him not a noob...but then after 1 hour we finished our back training and that guy is still doing deadlifts. Really WTF, still noob.

Well, his deadlift form was perfect and he could lift the weight up without any difficulty, even if he was practicing the form I don't understand why he was doing it for 1 hour and he jots down notes after each set of deadlifts...

No one cares how heavy you're lifting, it's how you train.

Moral of the story is, compound exercises are good, but doing just one compound exercise is not good.

There's another guy who did what looked like flat DB flyes, he hold a pair of DB, fully extend his elbows and go from above his chest and all the way down, and with his elbows still extended and his arms go far behind his body, then go back up again. Me and darklight were like wow he's training for gymnastics or he wants to pop his shoulders out to claim insurance?

i wont.

I'm not calling myself pro, but i'm sure a person i saw today in the gym is definitely wrong. He's around 19, he came in, take up two dumbbells ( no warm ups ) , do 2x dumbbell flyes , 2x bicep curls , 2x triceps extensions,  then he do two more sets and sit down and talk to his friend for like 30 minutes.

LOL and they come and tell you "I've been to the gym for this many months...but still not satisfied with my body. [post pic]. What's wrong with me?"

As if like stepping into the gym without proper training will turn you into a hulk.
