Greetings,

What's Picaday
Picaday (This Thread) is created for you guys to share any interesting pictures that you snap daily and also for those who don't have a thread @ Photo Gallery due to any reason.

Picaday's Rules and Regulations
- No, Picaday is not a place for you to spam or increase your post count. Picaday's main objective is to encourage more people to post their pictures here and share knowledge among each other.
- Only post pictures taken by you using Digital Cameras be it from a Point-and-Shoot, Prosumers or DSLR. Pictures snapped by cameraphones are prohibited in Picaday.
- Use the spoiler tag whenever you are quoting someone's picture in Picaday.
- Photographs posted must not exceed 1024px in either width or height.
- One-liner comments e.g. "Niceeeee~~!!!" are considered as spam. Kindly include the reason why you like or dislike his/her picture or suggest ways to improve the shot should you want to comment on someone's photo. Please do not go off topic.
- Don't post your pictures here if you are those weirdos who can't accept genuine critiques or comments on your pictures. You have been warned. This place is for everyone to share their view be it a compliment or critique on your photos and we don't want immature photographers crying like a little girl after getting some genuine comments.

Get Started Now!
- Kindly copy, paste and edit the code below to tag your pictures so that it's easier for others to comment on or to learn from.

CODE
[b]Camera Model - [/b]
[b]Lens  - [/b]
[b]Aperture - [/b]
[b]Shutter Speed  - [/b]
[b]ISO - [/b]

Example:

Camera Model - Canon EOS 40D
Lens - Canon 17-40mm f4 L
Aperture - f5.0
Shutter Speed - 1/80s
ISO - 800

I thought you already got Canon EOS 450D?
Or did you mean to say, you shouldn't have gotten the Canon EOS 450D.

RM3mil in goods lost in Kepong warehouse fire
http://www.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?f...7020&sec=nation
Tuesday September 1, 2009

KUALA LUMPUR: A fire at a warehouse, which is believed to store hardware supplies, resulted in losses estimated at around RM3mil,

Jinjang Fire and Rescue Department chief Muhamad Puzi Ismail said the fire at the warehouse located in Kepong, took four hours to put out. It was relatively small and damaged only part of the warehouse, he added.

“Although it was not a big fire, it produced a lot of smoke as there was a lot of rubber in the premises,” he said when met at the scene yesterday.

Muhamad Puzi said the fire was brought under control about one-and-a-half hours after firemen arrived at the warehouse at 5.40pm.

Around 66 firemen and volunteers were present at the scene along with six fire engines.

No one was injured in the incident.

According to warehouse owner Yong Lam Lee, the fire had started small but soon grew out of control.

Yong, 48, said the building in Jalan Helang Belalang had served as a warehouse for 32 years.

i assume you're using your SP90 for that shot right? the SP90 does not produce a FF image circle. so yuor 850 will automatically downsize the res into 12MP no? correct me if im wrong, i don't have FF to play with T.T *jealous*

cropped, mostly by 50%. even at 300mm aps-c, it won't be enough to get frame filling shots.. that's where high MPs come in play rclxms.gif

since u wanna compose in that way..i would suggest u turn urself a lil bit..so that the whole photo would be symmetrical(note that the patterns on the ceiling isnt symmetric now)..and also i think 1/13 is a lil bit too slow for u to handle..looks a lil bit blurred..or perhaps the DoF wasnt enough to cover the whole lamp which gave me a false impression that it was due to slow shutter... blush.gif

but of coz..i say all this AFTER i saw the picture..if i was there to shoot..i probably wont notice about those things i mention at all..lol

Great. Thanks for the feedback. Its one of the thing that keep my mind off during a relative visit laugh.gif Was hoping to be able to stand directly under the light but that would be removing a 8 seater marble table sweat.gif Plus the lightning is awfully dark hence the high aperture / low shutter speed.

you could've upped the ISO, normally using 400 would be acceptable most of the time.

Yes I know...The shot was really taken with two dogs sticking their heads out a van window and there is another dogs head under this ones that I tried to clone out (as well as the van) and this is the result...Best I could do....;~)

It was photoshopped , so, i thought the original exif wouldnt be much of a representation of the picture, so i wrote photoshopped instead. And yeah, guess the post-processing added noise to the picture, since the lighting was scarce...

its jsut a normal backcard cut down from my unwanted box..
basically..what i did is..i use the card to cover up the lens(the portion of the sky)..slowly shake it(so it wont leave any hard "mark" on the border)..and move it upward slowly...

so with this..i expose the sea longer..and expose the sky shorter..sort of to get more well-balanced exposure btwn the 2....not so "dramatic" as those overcooked HDR..yet it contains wider range..

sorry i dont have any link to any tutorial for this..maybe u can try google..coz i just briefly came across this thing from my friend's conversation..i guess it works roughly like a GND..but in a manual n more flexible way..so just give it a try..since i dont have my GND with me..

shake the card...my camera was mounted on my tripod....like if u see a GND..the color changes gradually from dark to transparent right??so shaking the card infront of the lens would give the "gradual" feel in the exposure...imagine if u hold the card still....the part which covered by the card n the part not covered by the card..the exposure is diff by alot..and u would also see a "dark-line" in ur photo..coz the border of the card stays at the same position for too long..but..if u keep moving it..it wont really leave anything on ur image..while getting ur shot with diff exposure..

so for my shots..its like 8 sec exposure for the sea..5 sec exposure for the middle part of the sky..and probably 3 sec exposure for the top(thats y its darker compare to the middle sky)

It is very obvious that u did.
As achew mentioned, there r masking irregularities around the edges of the sky against the buildings/roofs.

My personal comment: Your HDR looks overcooked...although the color of the sky is nice, but the overall composition needs to be improved & probably a bit more tweaking during tone mapping.

Nah, he might not have.
Creating HDRs out of one single RAW frame can often lead to such irregularities, especially in Photomatix sweat.gif
