Creating HDRs out of one single RAW frame can often lead to such irregularities, especially in Photomatix

Sorry to criticize, but your photo doesnt look like a HDR image.
I see increased contrast but no increased dynamic range. But the photo reminds me of Crysis xD

That guy's HDRs are more to the surreal. I personally like normal looking shots =P
But still, they are good shots

No offense, but the lighting looks wrong, and the body outlines on the skateboarders are reeeeeeaaaaaallly really crude.

And which part of the picture do you think is sharp?

I on the other hand feel that the vignetting makes the viewer focus more on the jetty and gives the whole picture an aged look

Were there like a thousand people staring at you while you snapped away at Asia Cafe?

The colours certainly bring the nostalgia out, but the out of focus totally ruined the picture. Old pictures can have faded colors, but the focus makes one forget about the nostalgia

In Photochop under the Filters section, you can choose to add noise.
Here I did this just now when I was bored.



P.S: I think the small file size screwed up my grains =X

The HDR is smack there right in front of you.
The highlights which is the evening sky is well exposed, and the shadows which are the building and trees are a little bit less exposed.

I'm guessing Hearts only took one RAW shot which exposed the evening sky, then used the Single File Conversion in Photomatix to try to bring out the shadows. He did, in the end, but the overall photo could've been improved with the use of multiple exposures.
