We rate the players involved in the 4-3 home win for Manchester United against Manchester City.
Manchester United QUOTE Ben Foster - 3 http://www.espnstar.com/football/news/deta...Player-Ratings/Just why Foster is widely regarded as England's future No.1 shot-stopper is mindboggling. His poor reading of the game gave City their first goal. John O'Shea - 5 Playing as a right-back in this game, the Irish defender was solid if not spectacular. Did not provide much of an offensive option but kept things tight at the back. Patrice Evra - 7.5 The Frenchman set Rooney up for United's first goal and was a constant menace with his overlapping runs down the left. Rio Ferdinand - 4 Was troubled by Tevez and Bellamy's pace all afternoon. Made a schoolboy error to give Bellamy his second goal. Nemanja Vidic - 6 Alongside his experienced partner in defence, neither player showed the sort of discipline that made them one of the best defensive partnerships in the top flight. Darren Fletcher - 10 His hardworking side of the game was never in doubt. Scored a brace to give the red half of Manchester a day to remember. Ryan Giggs - 8 Giggs gave a virtuoso performance down the left and created chance after chance for his wasteful teammates. Anderson - 7.5 Since his goal against Tottenham last week, the Samba kid looks to have found the confidence that was lacking last season. Dictated play from the middle like how Michael Carrick normally does for United. Park Ji-Sung - 7.5 The South Korean winger signed a new deal at United this week and put in a solid shift at Old Trafford with his end-to-end running. Dimitar Berbatov - 6 If Berbatov continues his wayward form for United, Ferguson will be tempted to give Owen a chance. The Bulgarian left Rooney to run the show and was ineffective as the targetman. Wayne Rooney - 8.5 The England striker has been in red-hot form since the start of the season and another wonderful piece of skill saw him give United an early lead. Substitutes Antonio Valencia - 6.5 The winger is fast becoming a one-trick pony. Needs to add more creativity to his game in order to be successful at United. Michael Owen - 8 Owen sealed his place in United's history with the winner almost on the final whistle. |

QUOTE(boxsystem @ Sep 21 2009, 12:14 AM) Bellamy scores at 89:55, after the four minutes were signaled. Play wasn't restarted until 91:10 (1:06 time wasted). We won a corner, Anderson was subbed for Carrick (30 seconds). That gives us a total of 1:36 over the original four, and Owen scored at 95:28 (ie 8 seconds short of this). Well calculated I felt that our midfield won the match for us.The defence almost cost us a win, while the strikers are not having a lucky day with the exception of Owen. Fletcher pawned Berba in headers. But I feel that the difference between Fletcher's goal & Berba's attempts was that Fletcher's ball were slower but was wobbling, difficult for the keeper to read while Berba's, althought it has speed, the direction was pretty straight forward. For a keeper of Given's stature, Berba's was an easier save. |

QUOTE(odieseven @ Sep 21 2009, 09:16 AM) Well calculated Not calculated by me. Taken from The Caf. Well, don't mind about the ABU's comments lah. Table doesn't lie. City could have scored but they didn't. We took our chances and paid off.I felt that our midfield won the match for us.The defence almost cost us a win, while the strikers are not having a lucky day with the exception of Owen. thats the full highlight mates..... man, i watched it over 10 times!!!!!! and still watching it!!!!!!!!!!!!! "We could have won 6-0 today, and the fact we made those mistakes made it probably the best derby of all time. You’re left pondering what you’d rather have; win 6-0 or win the greatest derby of all time. I’d rather win 6-0!" "For us it’s unusual to accept that they’re top dogs in terms of media attention," he said. "But sometimes you have a noisy neighbour and you have to live with it. You can’t do anything about them, they keep making noise, but what you can do - as we showed today - is you can get on with your life. Put your television on and turn it up a bit louder! - Sir Alex Ferguson This post has been edited by syarz: Sep 21 2009, 09:59 AM |

Well done guys, having watch the whole match on a boring Sunday night for me, i must say its worth the time as im not really a fan of both sides. I thought Man Utd were the better side and deserve to win. The quality of possession, the passes and they came out in the second half looking more hungrier than City, with the exception of the Bellamy stunning goal, which i think is quite unsavable. From there on, its just Utd all the way.
City given their 'all star' lineup, still lacks the cutting edge of Man Utd, like it or not, its the fact and what can i say about the winning goal. Typical Michael Owen goal, finds some extra space, gets a nice pass and nicks it into the goal. I think its not the first time we've seen Owen scoring such goal. Secondly, City been hit by Arsenal syndrome, no thanks to Kolo Toure. Maybe its just coincidence but Kolo's defensive heading ability is quite limited and we Arsenal fans know his defensive positioning is questionable too. I hope this was not the reason of Owen's winning goal but why was nobody marking him. (Pardon this pun on Toure, purely sarcastic actually). And seriously, if you guys were to thank anyone, it would be the heroics of Giggs and the brilliance of Feltcher, not just because of the 2 goals but the way he played the simple and effective ball. And of coz the workhorse of Anderson. I like this kinda player, tenacious and can spot a good long pass. |

I want to see owen more in action. At least he should play 90 minutes in this coming wednesday's carling cup match.
What a relief that we have won 3 of the hardest match so far. Arsenal, Tottenham and Mancity |

From there on, its just Utd all the way. Yup. Our midfield won us the game yesterday. MoTM for me was Fletcher. Playing his heart out. Followed by Giggsy, 3 assist in a game. Evra and Anderson are behind the two of them. Foster and Rio gave City their goals and they excecuted the shots perfectly.City given their 'all star' lineup, still lacks the cutting edge of Man Utd, like it or not, its the fact and what can i say about the winning goal. In times like these I wonder, when the defensive line plays well, we will struggle on playing forward. Now, it's the way around. It is a curse? Last season, we had changes all over the defensive line yet managed to contain threats thanks to Vida. I hope we could sort this problem soon. Big 4 teams would love to exploit this.
