Actually N900 have lots of functions rather than just call and sms. Well in some part I agree with u N900 has a pretty basic sms and call function, but do u ever think about the IM? This is the only phone that can open YM, MSN, Google Talk, Skype at the same time!!.. Plus they are all integrated into one.. same like pidgin in linux

The Emails (Mail for exchange and Nokia messanging) also work like charm..

The Internet browser.. There's no need to explain about it coz it has the best internet browser for phone right now

p/s: I really love the ctrl-v and ctrl-x function.. feels like using a real computer

My conclusion for N900 is... U need to get a 3G connection / wifi for it to be totally utilize. I've been using N900 in quite awhile and still never get bored with it... So many things to be explored

I'm planning to buy N900 real soon. But I never had a 3G phone before. I would like to ask you about your 3G experience using N900.

1) Which service provider are you using?
2) Was there any problem in setting up the 3G connection? How easy was it to setup?
3) Does the service provider allow access to other ports than the usual port such web, pop3, imap and smtp? One of the reason for me to buy N900 is to do remote support thru SSH (port 22).

basically to put it short, jusy need to know what the buyer is actually looking for and weights out the important features. basically, if apps and games is very important, then Android might be a better choice especially now.

WA. The battery cant be changed or upgraded?

Right now i'm using Celcom 3G prepaid weekly.. So malas tu have a contract postpaid with any service provider.. hehe

Anyway last time I'd to setup the 3G setting by myself since Celcom cannot configure it automatically. Maybe once the phone is available in the market, there will be a simpler way.

SSH? Not really familiar with that. But my service provider supports usual port like web, imap and stmp. (I've been using the emails a lot - 3 emails at a time... yahoo, google and my Microsoft exchange2003). I think it should be the same like Celcom broadband that u use it with ur computer. (U even can use ur phone as a 3G modem for your pc).

Added on March 21, 2010, 3:32 pmHaven't tried Meego yet but we are hoping it will be much better than Maemo5.. (Well it is an upgrade version right hehe) I never regret buying this baby.. Well that is my personal view coz b4 this I used N82.. cannot fully utilize the internet function..

Tips: Think before u buy any phone.. don't simply follow other people.. if u like simple and easy to use phone, better go for iPhone and HTC Google Nexus One

Not sure about celcom, but DiGi is automatically detected by N900 and the 3G internet works with zero configuration

Just a note, there will never be a phone that has *all* features.. for me, N900 fits to my usage and that is why I bought it. You'll never find a phone that last forever in terms of feature. At the least, N900 to me it will make me stay for some time as I'm not rich either

I totally agree that N900 can only be fully utilized if you're on a data plan

Thank you for the information. I still haven't decide the service provider yet, but I'm leaning a bit towards DiGi. Especially the Unlimited 58 plan.

On another topic... Does Malaysia have something like an N900 User Group/Club? Seeing that N900 is highly hackable, maybe there could be a regular meet-up of N900 users.

- Users can share experience/information.
- Short presentation (3-5 minutes) on "Cool Maemo app of the month"
- A "HowTo" presentation. For example: "HowTo enable function XYZ" or "HowTo control air cond using N900" (just simply guessing here)
- Undecided people can have a sneak peek at N900 before making decision to buy or not

N900 officially wasnt available in malaysia until now. Pre order is already available maybe in a few weeks or month it will have official unit in malaysia.

honestly why bother about the original and ap of n900? i got myself one set a month ago and its been serving me just fine.

Can the AP price N900 go lower, thinking to get this or a CULV laptop?

When everything works its fine. When your phone crash or LCD crack or any accessories spoil or motherboard thats when the fun begins for AP phones.
It will say give u 24months but they give u 101 excuses no spare parts la no tis la wait 2-4months la. Ask yourself where AP phones come frrom and where they get spare parts when Original its not even available in malaysia.

You will notice the difference if you happen to be the unfortunate ones with your phone. Original set will guarantee you a year of warranty FOC which includes any parts of your phone and also firmware upgrading.

I bricked my N97 twice and I didnt have to pay a penny for it , nokia was even good enough to change a new rim for my phone. That extra 200 bucks are well worth it I'd have to say

I pre-ordered the N900 thru Nokia website, but haven't received any sort of confirmation email/sms... anyone else received any email/sms after submitting the pre-order form?
