install a newer version will do.. jus download the base map from garmin and get the maps update from malfreemaps. after newer version garmin installation, u can disable the background service from the root(garmin software itself)

i notice after update v300 and reinstall garmin my garmin now takes 2 mintes plus to find satellite. anyone else got my prob? before only like 10 seconds

ur agps on or not? u location was in car or wat? sometimes the cloud also is a disturbance

before when i first got the phone rain or shine or cloudy also can lock in 10 secs

Dont know i now also lock on take bout 30sec.. Maybe sattelite not in our orbit kot.. Harder to get lock... Lol.. Ah dont care la.. As long get a lock..

need some suggestions whether should I use silicon case or crystal case for my e71....well, can it do any harm to my housing? because last time when i use crystal case for my previous nokia 6233, the case kinda leaves effects & scratches all over the shiny part (including the screen). since that, i havent use any crystal case...dun want to damage my precious housing...

just bought a silicon case for my e71 anyway...

stick with the silicone case.. stay far far away from crystal case.. do more harm than protection..

xavi, need ur help. is it advisable to update garmin fron 5.00.0 to 5.00.5?

i downloaded the garminmobilextforsymbians603rdedition50050.exe... and after install do i need to register it or anything? or will it just update from the 5.00.0?

Actually when u use yr old AP bat... is it ok? not problem right? My "standby bat" now i charged it and keep aside..but my bat is abit more improved..the copper is as the ori and the "hole" u mention also got liao...only is the printing is same as u showed in page 1

Actually about MSM and MFM i got bit personal experience la. cause actually my friend got a N81 (i think), so he got AGPS. and since he don't have any software i ask him want install garmin or not (as i also use as "testing" la..hehe)
then i use MFM map for him..and discover his map quite details as even got logo along the road..like MD, petronas..and so on..

My garmin (which come installed with E71, i request the supplier to install for me) is just only roads with no logo. (signaficant dif from MFM) so i think mine is MSM la..
but not sure MFM got singapore map? cause i stick to MSM is i might travel to SG if needed.

Added on September 5, 2009, 1:29 amIf yr version is 500.30 or later, then i think u need not in a hurry to update it. as 500.30 is already can disable backgroud service and save bat life. It's lucky for me that when i solve the bat life issue my garmin can disable the service..so no need to upgrade it..

Why i say tht? cause no need to chase for software update unless necessary. if everything is fine at the moment and fulfill yr needs. then just leave it....

2) De grade to V4

Agps can be turn off. U should untick bluetooth gps as well . It will still work.
Between mfm and msm.. I prefer mfm as it is updated weekly and d installation is easier as compare to msm.. Detail wise yes mfm is more detail when east m'sia is ur location.
and yes mfm hav singapore,borneo m'sia map.. They r all compiled together de..

oh yeah..forgot..but i think i read it somewhere that if A-gps not ON it'll take much longer time to search for satelite and logon position.
so if the logon time to locate position is slow, tht might be the problem. but Apgs will eat up data transfer and cost u abit only.
