hmmm.. my long term plan is closer to doom. One of my MET has died. Stuck at its burrow. Saw it there this afternoon and left it. Checked it again n it was in the same spot. Throw a mealworm but no reaction to decided to get it out n one of its legs is loss probably due to the last molt which is last week. Oh well...

Sorry for your loss. I lost a Lampropelma sp "Borneo black" sling a few months back because it lost a leg. Didn't think much about it but by the time I discovered it in a curl, it was too far gone to save. |

i thought that T can survive if one or some of its limbs are broken. or issit applies to bigger/juvie/adult specimens not as in slings.

Sorry for your loss bro, Ts are able to survive if 1 or a couple of its limbs/legs broke off and it applies from slings-adult specimens. I do notice adult specimens that have broken or missing legs have higher chance of mortality on the next moult. It happen to my H. albostriatum(WC), GBB and my largest female OBT, they all die due to bad moult and have at least 1 missing body part. I'm not sure whether is because of hydration or other reasons. |

That's what I thought too. Guess it is not 100% certain that they will make it when they lose a limb. So far my experience is my big ones have all survived losing limbs. Have a mature male H. gigas and a female Sing blue lose a leg and still survive. I've also bought a T. blondi and a M. robustum with missing limbs and they too survived the next molt. I guess, I've been lucky so far. My Sing. blue has molted twice and still not regenerated the missing leg! Gratz on the molt. The exoskeleton you can remove any time you want. As for when to start feeding, you can wait a week or you can wait till the fangs turn black(if you can't wait a week This post has been edited by Oldfart: Nov 16 2009, 12:54 PM |
