The defense was above average but still wasn't their best performance and in 2nd half Mallorca didn't really attacked Madrid like they did in 1st half. Waiting for Pepe to be in the equation.

I love Diarra, you have to give him credit. After suffering all that injury and being sidelined since last year, he's performance was way better than Gago.

I don't think playing Gago alongside Xabi is an advantage since both of them will push forward leaving a huge gap between MFs and Defenders. It happens to be the case since the 2nd Clasico iinm.

Anyway, Hatrick by Cristiano sums up his performance, Kaka was a bit down today, Higgy seemed lost until he scored an impressive goal (nice assist from guti by the way, the pass curled in between ref and a Mallorca player, visionary pass I would say)

.....and we won one of the toughest last 3 oppenents. Nice~

After watching Barca throughout the season, at this point anybody would say Sevilla is not such a big task for Barcelona but then again, after watching Barca's performance against Tenerife and Xerex, I still believe we can make it to cibeles~

QUOTE(verx @ May 6 2010, 10:31 AM)
2nd half Mallorca didn't really attack because we didn't allow them to. 1st half it was quite ridiculous how their midfielders could continually slice the backline with through passes because of the time and space we allowed them on the ball. Whatever Pelle told them at half time it worked. Seemed like he pushed the backline further up to reduce the space in between the midfield and backline as well.

As for Gago and Xabi they rotate with each other on who sits if one of them pushes forward. But Gago has this habit of closing down early when it's unnecessary thus leaving that gap. But it was one of his better games I guess. But again he didn't really offer much offensively.

I dunno if we'll win the title or not but I'm proud of the boys. They've pushed right till the end and on any other year we would've won the league already. The fact that this is the 1st year of this new project means there should be better days ahead.
*
Maybe yes, 2nd half we didn't allow them space like we did in 1st half and the team confident pumped up. RM held the possession and attacked on every chance they got, Mallorca were pushed back and Madrid were comfortable for a long period.
He(gago) did well two years before but, I prefer the Diarras over him now simply because they are far more effective and didn't lose the ball easily.

Hehe, We are all proud of the boys, I just wish we can win the title, that's all~

awesome performance by CR9, higuain was below par and i hope he can pass to others when he cant do anything.. he tend to play by himself and try to score.. i hate his attitude lately.. maybe because he want to chase messi n want to receive golden boot? sighh..

overall.. really good game and great win to give barca hurt at the butt.. until the end.. hope seville can take point from barca.. heee

Who do you think made the cross of which Ronaldo scored the winning goal against Osasuna?

In order to be better and to built the confidence in him, he need to do that, every striker will do that. Being selfish is part of the striker's DNA~ tongue.gif

QUOTE(verx @ May 6 2010, 03:42 PM)
I don't get the criticism that Higuain's been receiving. Yeah he's a little selfish at times but so is Ronaldo. And Higuain is a striker who has an incredible goal scoring rate. And for the Osasuna game wasn't it he who gave that cross for the 3rd goal? That wasn't selfish now was it?

You want to criticise...start off with Benzema's inability to stay onside for instance doh.gif
Now that is something worth criticising. laugh.gif

Offside at the same position on the field all season long - clown~ hahahahha~

he'll be better tongue.gif

I’m not satisfied with the defense line but I’m not saying this is their worst performance either. They played better but a bit messy like the goal Yeste scored, I don’t think Madrid can’t do anything about the goal. They look a bit lazy, I don’t know why. Maybe it’s just me. But when Diarra enters, the defense look solid and I’m not talking about this match only. That shows that the defense line need a good leader to organize them. Maybe it's just me~

Anyway, happy to see Benzema scored a goal and it was a very nice assist by Kaka and a Benzema took it perfectly, kinda reminds me to the old Ronaldo (Damn! I miss him!!! tongue.gif).

But in the 1st couple of minutes he always ran into somebody elses path and I was thinking like this guy really need a lot more matches to get use to the way Madrid play. But then he surpised me with his one two pass with Higuain, a bunch of off the ball ran that were almost perfectly timed (no silly offsides) and he connected well with Pipita and Marcelo. Hope his injury is not that bad. I really like to see more of him and Pipita together
Ramos (the overhead kick) and Ronaldo should’ve scored earlier especially Ronaldo. He missed a seater in the early minutes and that’s pretty much annoying when suddenly I got a message from my friend that Messi just scored.

I realize something today, Ronaldo’s close control is getting better. I don’t know about you guys but, a couple of matches before, he will most probably lose the ball when he ran into opponents and throughout the season I was mocking his close control dribbling. But 3 or 4 matches back, Ronaldo really did well in controlling the ball and he’s fast and accurate as well.

There’s another match to go and I still believe Madrid can clinch the title~ anything can happen in the next 90 minutes.

EDIT: About Di Maria, I think he's just mediocre (for time being) for me and stretching 35ME for that kinda player is insane~ He can do better but right now I don't think he's needed in Madrid:P
David Luiz is a good option for CB (but we already have Ramos, Albiol, Garay, and Pepe) but I don't think it's a good idea bringing in somebody like him for LB position, I just think we can do better.

I say bring in Canales and give him that #7. smile.gif

Ronaldo now have scored 33 goals in all 34 matches (32 starts) he played for Madrid
while Higuain scored 27 goals in 31 matches (27starts) in all league matches.

Nope Higuain is not leaving, Pelle cam out and answered that, now we need Higuain to pen a deal with Madrid.
I do think Perez can make mistakes but selling our top scorer wont do him any good. I believe he'll do anything to preserve his reputation which is not selling higuain. tongue.gif
Unless I hear it from Valdano himself, Higuain is staying put!

Benz will have his time, he was on the top of the pecking order before he got injured. I think, he'll do better, just don't get injured in World Cup, that's all~

If Canales will not join us (getafe showed their interest), then maybe Guti should stay. We have a good MF depth and I kinda liked it.

I can't really point which one of his exquisite passes that I really like, but I can't forget those passes to Robinho and RVN that made us win against Sevilla a few years back and those backheels to Zidane and Benzema, my oh my.

I'm getting a bit emotional, so I'll stop here. tongue.gif~

i welcome silva. but... hmmm i just dunno who are they gonna bench. sigh.... this team is really a bunch of overloaded stars...

Valencia have a big hole in their pocket to cover, selling out one of their biggest asset will have pros and cons but for right now, Valencia board are thinking that they can change the direction of the club (positive direction of course) by bringing stability to their club financially. Well, I don't blame them, it's been a long time since they were regarded as one of the european top dogs.

It's Villa choice iinm. He wants Barca and that's the only club he'll consider if he's leaving so that's the sole reason why Valencia decided to sell him to their rival. The club has every right to say no but, the club will have to face the risk of having a dissatisfied key player. Also, not to forget about the biggest distraction for a player -the rumors and "soap dramas" during the summer and the winter transfer- It will be the same case as Ribery before. (on which I have no idea what exactly Bayern did behind the close doors to keep him playing for them hmm.gif )

Lampard will not. Since he love play in England..
Gerrald high possibility doh.gif

Maicon voiced his interest in Madrid (finally) and it wouldn't take long for madrid to land him. Then Madrid will hunt another non-Marcelo like LB which I have no idea who they gonna sign for time being.

In between that 2 signings, Mou will push Madrid to buy a box to box MF. Gerrard is easier to land compare to Lampard and Cesc (considering the situation surrounding Liverpool for time being).

I doubt that his love for England gameplay will be Madrid's biggest burden. Rafa was in between every transfer attempts involving Gerrard. What if he's not there anymore?

Kolarov is the LB that Mourinho is interested in. I don't really know much about him. Personally I would have preferred getting Filipe but I guess he would be similar to Marcelo in a sense.

I don't really fancy Gerrard tbh. I don't think he suits the Spanish game.
That is great news if true. Time to mark the date on my calender biggrin.gif
*
I'm not a fan of Gerrard either but Mourinho is and he intend to land him to fill in the long vacated box to box MF position in Madrid.

Actually, imo, suiting the Spanish style is not Mourinho's concern as well since he didn't really adapt with the particular league type of play in his previous 3 clubs that I watched. If I remember correctly Porto and Chelsea played differently than when Mou coached them especially Chelsea. (I only got the chance to watch Porto in a season CD bought by my brother). But I might be wrong~ tongue.gif

Gotta start saving and plan the holiday well since I'm planning to camp at KLIA a day before they come.

I don't know what style we are going to play but that isn't the issue I'm talking about. We are going to play against Spanish teams which means it's a very different type of game than the EPL.
It's the same reason why I felt Beckham wasn't suited to the Spanish game either. You need to have a good first touch if you're going to play in midfield in Spain. We've seen how the likes of Diarra and even Sneijder struggle when they are closed down quickly in midfield. Gerrard's touch isn't the best. Sure he will run up and down non-stop, will cover in defense and be a threat going forward but I do see him struggling. I could be wrong of course.
*
Hurm, I did think about that and tried to find some other box to box MF who has a good first touch and imo Ever Banega, Ambrosini and De Rossi did that well but then, Banega is not that good while Ambrosini is too old+will not be our best buy. That leaves us to De Rossi and we were denied annually. It's almost impossible to sign him.

So now, since Benitez left Liverpool, Gerrard will be our (hopefully easiest) summer target whether we like it or not~ I hope he can do well if he signed for Madrid~ smile.gif

Erm i think the correct analysis is EPL are high tempo more physical a lot closing down, SERIE A is more tactical, LA LIGA is more technical. And to me OWEN his appearance/goal ratio is still very good at RM although he dont get much chance. Not much english player actually when to laliga but the most successful would have to be BECKHAM i guess. To play for JM, the player need to have the right attitude and work rate and i think GERRARD fit the role coz JM is a manager that will not hesitate to drop a star player like what happen to SHEVCHENKO.

Those who have follow JM will know his style of play. RM fans can expect a mean defense and long streak of unbeaten run at Santiago Bernabeu  thumbup.gif  and for the speed you guys have in the team i think it will be fast counter attacking style 4-3-3.
*
Beckham?? I think McManaman is a much better English player that played in La Liga. That guy was 'da bomb' back then when he lead Madrid to their 8th~

It's not about the speed alone, we must have a good finisher as well. This time Benzema really gonna have a hard time fighting for his spot since Higuain is really good at scoring goals at fast pace.
