QUOTE(simplesmile @ Aug 28 2009, 09:17 PM)
Investopedia explains Call Warrant
A warrant is similar to an option, the main difference is that warrants are issued by a company attempting to raise capital.

My father owns AirAsia, and today I asked him if he knows about AirAsia-CG and he said he has no idea. And he also doesn't know if the AirAsia-CG is allotted into his account or not. So, from skid's explanation of this has nothing to do with AirAsia.... then when exercising the warrants, who takes the cash? Isn't it AirAsia?

What's the difference between this AirAsia warrants and YTLPower warrants? I've read about YTLP holders talking about waiting for their next warrants cos of high yield/capital gain. So my question is, if warrants are not allocated to the shareholders in the first place... then how does these people buy the warrants at such high discount to the market price?
*
YTLP is warrant, not call warrant. Call warrant I assume is raise by company like CIMB, OSK (The listing should have it) who needs extra cash, but the performance of the CW is based on AirAsia stock. Correct me if I'm wrong

For me, I rather not spend my time thinking bull run or bear rally. Just buy as long as I feel the price is right. As long as earn money, then it is good.

Everyday AIG up $5-10 bux, then by end of September will climb back to $100.

Suddenly, all US shares goes up, as if the ECONOMY has recovered..

Is call warrant the same as call option? If yes, then I understand the difference between warrant and call warrant.
Why Malaysians like to confuse people by using "warrant" in both of them? why not just call one warrant and the other option?

Because in US, warrant is option, while call warrant is call option, is it??

Alamak! Throw me wait land in dustbin how? laugh.gif

Thanks. Will try to complete it one day. Now busy with my transfer.

Anyway, there's a link that aurora97 gave a few days back : http://www.nagawarrants.com/home.html

Recently launched by Kenanga, really good website on warrants. I was telling him that I wouldn't have done the guide on warrants if the website came out earlier. doh.gif

Kmarc, I realise that if you do your own guide, you tend to learn more about the subject. Especially a public guide. So I think it's good for you. As a learning experience anyway. Keep it up. notworthy.gif

Thx. smile.gif

That's one of the main reasons why I do guides, so that I am "forced" to learn more about a topic.

Anyway, we're off topic, better get back to the main topic before our true hero comes and rotan us!!! laugh.gif

I read from the Genting thread that the Directors fee is excessive. Usually how much Directors fee is reasonable (individually, and collectively) as a percentage of sales or net profit? What's the general rule of thumb?

Everyone have their own approach, you need to build one yourself.

Before that, ask yourself, what kind of investor you are?

- daytrader/scalper - quick in, quick out, daily or settle the next day
- short term trader : self define, either 1-2 weeks or more
- mid-term trader : longer period than short term trader, may wait for dividend, bonuses etc
- long-term trader : hardly look into portfolio, visit once in a while.

Currently, PE, ROE makes no difference in the price movements. A loss company share can skyrocket better than profitable company.
Not in Malaysia but US Market also. Take Dell for example: Announced lower that street estimate profit but the share jumped 5 % to $16.50

You still dunno what type of player you are. And you need to set your risk tolerance, else when market crashes, you will sell the wrong things, while continue to average junks. Stocks are not easy money, and not all people earn from stocks, while we see larger percentage losing money in stocks, knowingly or unknowingly.
