Yes, ATI Radeon HD 6970m is better than GTX 460.

You can take a look at the benchmark list of mobile GPU here:

Dude, you need to recognize there are 2 HD6970m...
one is cross fire and the other one not cross fire, mine is not a cross fire :\
If it were a cross fire, I would had mentioned it in my signature, too bad it's not.

Not too sure what's the brand of HDD and RAM. Won't know until I receive it.

My laptop model will be the same as Keenxlimit's except mine comes with an ATI Radeon 6970m while his comes with a GTX 485m.

Here is his review: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1827691

Anyway, this is a Dell Inspiron thread, I don't wanna flood here with Sager laptop. Should be discussing Inspiron earlier on lol.
Any discussion on Sager, you can visit Sager thread, we got bunch of people there to answer your question :]

uh, anyone planning to buy a laptop with a view to replace the hdd with ssd much later on should avoid the new inspiron. i just found out that the hard disk is not directly accessible like other laptops where we just take out two screws and then simply pull the hard disk out. for this laptop the hard disk reside within the laptop construction, meaning you have disassemble it to take out the hard disk.....

i'm a user of the new inspiron 15R N5110. so far ok la, but i found that it starts heating up on graphic intensive application like 3d games. other than that it is perfect for my needs (i need to buy the usb-to-rs232 converter though, for work purpose).

if you think 15.6" is too large, you can opt for the 14" line up, but they can only go as far as core i5 though.

oh yes, ngkhanmein, i found this video that can be a reference on how to disassemble an inspiron laptop. the video shows different model but i think they have the same built.

Can any of you guys tell us if 15R have bad temperature design? Last thing i want is overheat. Also is 15R same as rest difficult to access HDD? I don't know if the HDD ventilation is good or not, normally what's the min/median/max temp you get on your HDD?

for hdd temp i get 28 the max i get 53 fluctual max but rarely.. mostly i get hdd temp won't exceed 50 while playing games. depend what hdd they offered. mine is seagate momentus.. some is western digital.. some is samsung.. (since seagate gonna buy samsung) actually 15R N5110 heat management is quite good.. so as N5010.. u not need worried.. i just wanna be perfect only.. cons is the built on down part is plastic + the fan noise very irritating
pros is price is reasonable with good spec + samsung led screen + warranty.. don't have major problem.. i not sure N5110 come with nvidia card.. my ati card currently no problem.. the design not that bad.. looks fine.. hdd ventilation is normal like other lappy.. seriously 2010-2011 laptop don't care what brand the heat issue problem is less.. i notice acer will slightly get higher temp due to the tuned the clock.. dell did the under clock like sony.. other brand too (i'm not pretty sure) so just grab which laptop u like + prefer with ur current budget.. good luck amigo~

Thanks for the input, 15R now comes with nvidia 525M 1GB, it's around same price as Asus A53SV & N53SV but they come with nvidia 540m & 500 & 640GB HDD instead.

The 15R 500GB ver comes with 7500rpm HDD. Was thinking about N53SV til i hear some hibernation & keyboard complains, but now i hear 15R fan is loud & some saying temp can be quite high. Why can't they make laptops perform like they were with focus on reliability & stability instead?

Is the fan always on or depend on the temp? What kind of bearing does it use as fan replacement is really a big challenge & expensive. And usually it's the 1st few components to break down.

just curious the fan sound, is it annoying or just like normal fan sound. Does it have different pitch or strange noise every now & then?
