Delay for Lord of the Rings Blu-ray Confirmed

Two days ago we broke the news, and now it is confirmed: the Blu-ray release of 'The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy' is delayed to 2010. Studio and industry sources have informed our friends at The Digital Bits that the BD trilogy is no longer on the 2009 schedule, and is now tentatively slated for March 2010.

No official confirmation of the delay is to be expected, as the title was never officially announced in the first place.

No official reason for the delay was given either, although The Bits believes that Warner Home Video "didn't want Rings to get lost in the crowd", considering that the studio "already has a number of big 3rd and 4th quarter titles coming on Blu-ray this year" (such as 'The Wizard of Oz', 'Gone with the Wind' and 'North by Northwest'). 'Lord of the Rings' fans are already replying that it is likelier that those classic movies would be the ones to get lost in the crowd if released at the same time as the Tolkien trilogy filmed by Peter Jackson.

There is no information whether the delay will entail any change in release details, or whether the studio will use the additional months to include the extended versions of the movies in the Blu-ray release, as demanded by numerous enthusiasts here and elsewhere.

helo guys...just wanna ask...does bluray use Closed-Caption instead of subtitles like R1 dvd??

this's wut i call subs for hearing impaired...CC use this format ONLY  because it is intended for hearing impaired...subtitles sometimes got version that get rid of those "[door losing] - [whistling] etc"

CC only supported by USA TV (intended to work the same as region lock)...means that any R1 dvd that use CC can't display "subs" when play using dvd player here (on PC can though)...subtitles on the other hand can display "subs" on any dvd player or tv model without any restriction...

my point is...i like to watch dialogue heavy movie n tv series with eng subs...but this CC system didn't allow me to do that...so i wonder if BD use this CC or not...

well you have to get those really 3rd party discounted items by at least US$7... then its reasonably

like the 9 BD's i bought is RM450 only, including pos laju courier from KL to Ipoh,
off the shelf if order from Amazon direct it really costs me some RM850

Added on September 10, 2009, 12:56 amto be frank i bought all used BD's only T3 was new and sealed at $4.24 ( jazzman saw the order..he bought one for himself too )

spiderman 3 at $3.50 only ( only this the BD cover a bit scratched only)
just finished watching spidy 3, PQ & AQ like brand new

all the 9 BD's i got the casing (except spidy la) are like new and the Disc itself without any hairline scratches ( unbelievable) inserts brochures all intact (just like new)

one word says it all, if i pass the BD's for verifying w/o telling....guaranteed...you will treat it as new

I also just received my Band of Brothers Box Set today (In perfect condition). 

Only different is you one is from Amazon UK mine is US.

hmm.... i think in theory then we shud stick to HK releases for HK movies then?  Really hate those dubs, even from the French, Italian, etc.  I prefer the dialogue in its original language and I read the subs.
