The L2D head is sealed? How you managed to open it up and solder the XPG? I noticed a line in the middle, force turn it? Did you get the Artic Alumina locally?

yeah u do need to do alot modding for people must get latest and greatest LED

guys,
the mod went on smoothly on both ( L2D & Mag 2D )after both of them have a really good sun bathing
well my soldering is not that good due to lousy solder iron ( yeah right )
but it turn out well - sorry guys the photos later im really tired
The L2D head was open using bare hand with rubbery mouse pad - i have open many Fenix's head with this trick P2D/P3D/P1D CE/P1 etc.
Now the L2D no more fogging inside the reflector even power it up with 1xAW14500 + AA dummy but the L2D lens & reflector don't do justice on the XPG-R5 but not too shabby vs the Cree XRE R2.
Now the Mag 2D mod is using the XPG-R5 from cpfer R@ndom - http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=245629

And the results on the Mag 2D XPG-R5 is well worth it and PRICELESS!!
The hotspot is so intense for a tiny emitter and this thing can really throw - i now named it the Malkoff Replica Mag 2D drop-ins
So now i don't have to buy that famous drop in from Malkoff anymore

You are from malaysia or not? Can you help me to replace the q5 of my A9? I don't know how to take it out of the body.

i'm not fimiliar with Tiablo.
If swapping the emitter on a pcb board is fine but to swap the bare emitter is a pain in the ass to solder the Cree XRE but SSC & K2 emitter is easy

This is very very awesome indeed!!! Thanks for sharing so much info! Really learnt something here. The XPGs have a bit of a greenish tint huh? Like the XPE's, but the L2D has a very nice flood beam, amazing results and luv it!

The 26 AWG silicone wires are preferred because it can take high heat or something? Can you opt to use normal electrical wires instead? I can't really see how the Shark-sink fit into the mag

In real life the tint on the Mag 2D XPG lean towards warmish tint but the spill is bluish due to the UCL lens.
And yes i love the L2D XPG - and its growing
Yes the 26 AWG wires are preferred because it can take high heat but 24 AWG is better,i have them coming maybe next week.Normal wires are ok but it will get corrode or dry in the long run due to heat and on top of that the body insulation too thick that it can't go through some small holes for wiring,the copper wires are hard to solder and hard to bend.

Last night i try it outdoors,man this Mag can throw even in heavy rain and easily light up to 1K feet = 304.8 meters and it can go further with stock smooth reflector.
