not pro la... im really beginner. it just co-incidence that i can answer some of your question, because in the past i used to have the same question as well. hahaha from using entry computer speakers like people here, and upgrade upgrade... there are alot more pros here, just see other threads... they have better overall system than me, more knowledge and even they dont listen to MP3s like me. those pros listen to FLAC, which is uncompressed. usually sourced from original cd.

klipsch promedia gmx 2.1 is almost double leading altec lansing now..

AL quality is downgrading now.. so far i hardly find shop selling klipsch gmx... only one shop here in kuching.. but its left demo unit only.. sadly... if want power go for z2300.. dont go for AL.. if want better sound quality its surely klipsch.. z2300 lack of tweeter so the sound not very satisfy..

Bad luck..i just back from lyp..no more klipsch speaker there..no shop keep old stock..

waa wear and tear of demo set quite high leh...

they blast the speaker almost everyday in those shops.... everyday! 7 days a week...lol

ya thats what i said.. test before you purchase.. my friend found one last demo unit of klipsch here in kuching at OneTJ.. my fren was very happy want to buy the speaker dy.. but then when test the sound.. the woofer's rubber already broken which cause the 'blab blab blab' sound... he disappointed and heart broken... so test before you buy..

newer Altec Lansing models are useless... i got one Altec Lansing VS4121 after my old model was stolen ( cant remember the model but it was blue color and VERY GOOD! )

i damn regret getting VS4121.. coz after 1yr + the speaker died on its own...

now i have switched to Edifier... ( loved the brand.. so far i'm trying out the lower end since i'm burnt badly by Altec Lansing but i'm happy with speakers )

VS4121 is rosak on its own...

the previous model is the one got stolen ( this is EXTREMELY GOOD wan... but i cant remember the model's name... )

ever since the stupid VS4121 died on it's own... i'm phobia of altec lansing's speakers.. as they are not cheap anyway... sum more the newer model as not as good the old models...

moniqee, so what speaker r u using now? can recommend me?

for me AL use to be a good brand for a speaker..guest now not anymore....they mindset are different...more to profit rather than quality......i still remember the old MX5021 is damn nice....i have to admit the mid and high sound even better than my beloved GMXs....but now haiz what happen to them....
