For anyone getting this error, please call Maybank Customer Service at 1-300-88-6688.

Speak to a customer service agent, and tell them you'd like to activate your card for Paypal services.

I have successfully added my card, after having the same error.

Do note that activation will only be valid for a year. After that, you have to call customer service again.

Hello all, just want to know, after we have confirmed the debit/credit card to be linked with the PayPal account, how does the charge/deduction from the card/s work?

I mean, when we do online shopping, do the selling party auto-deduct from our PayPal account or they auto-deduct from the card/s associated with the account?

Thanks in advance for the answer!

Guys I have a problem. Yesterday I got through all of the steps, and successfully linked my Maybank Debit to my Paypal.

The I tried purchasing something that's going to cost about MYR650, and in my acount there's RM700+. It says "Paypal payment failed or declined....." and in my Paypal account I can see the transaction was "Denied".

What could it be, billing address issue on my Maybank not matching the one I entered in Paypal, or what?

Additional info:
I've viewed my e-statement, and it seems that my address has a typo. "Kota Kinabbalu". And, my name at Paypal, I forgot to add the "bin". Could that be the cause?

I don't think you can topup Paypal with any other bank in Malaysia other than RHB. For transfer I don't know.
For any other debit they can deduct directly from your account, and for credit card well you know how that works.

Hi Sifu,

So, I have one paypal account that I created few years back, with my name messed up. Let say my name is Ah Beng Ciao, but I only filled in Ah Ciao and this also is shown in the "Welcome, Ah Ciao". Will I be having trouble when verifying in debit card, which is in my full name, and also when buying things online?

Those thing doesn't exist anymore.
with new card now you have to contact Maybank helpline to activate it for a year.
After year you have to reactivate again.

I believe that some people in this forum is always asking questions about Paypal.

Here is a simple step by step on how to verify your paypal using your Maybank debit card. Previously, it was disabled but Im glad that now maybank allows us to do this.

Update 10/1/12 : Some people have confirmed that there is no need for MSOS registration anymore. So I have hidden these steps  (Step One & Step Two) in spoilers. Please proceed straight to >> STEP THREE
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Step Three
Login to www.paypal.com with your paypal email & password.

In the My Account tab, click Profile and Add/Edit Credit or Debit Card.

Key in the details of your Maybank Visa Debit Card. Make sure the address is exactly the same as your billing address.
user posted image

Step Five
You will then get a verification email to your paypal account saying that you have successfully linked your card. And now all you have to do is wait for the code.

Step Six
Okay this is important : Wait for about ONE DAY before doing the following steps**

Login to your Maybank2u again and click on Accounts & Banking, then click on your Account number for your Account Details.

Then click on Debit Card History. You should then see an entry with the word “Paypal”. The code is the 4 numbers before the word Paypal.

Eg: PREAUTH SALE 8921PAYPAL-*EXPUSE DATED 06/08/09
Paypal Code : 8921

**
If you check your account too early, you might not see the details of the transaction and would not be able to get the code

Step Seven
Log in to www.paypal.com and click on Profile, then Add/Edit Credit or Debit Card.

Click on Enter Paypal Code and enter the code you obtained in Step Six.
user posted image

Success!

And now you have successfully linked your Maybank Visa Debit Card to your Paypal. You will get the refund of USD1.95 to your Paypal account.

:: NOTES ::

* If you have problems linking your card, check to make sure the details of the card is all correct – especially the Address. If all else fails, call the Maybank customer service.
* I have no idea why USD 1.00 is also deducted along with the USD 1.95 when we verify the card. I didn’t have this extra charge when verifying with Al-rajhi Visa Debit Card
* I have not tried to withdraw from Paypal to my card but I’ll be happy to hear your comments if you did try. Remember that Paypal charges USD5 per withdrawal.

I hope this tutorial was helpful biggrin.gif

Guys, just to reconfirm again :

a) Is it possible I link my Maybank's debit card to PayPal, and receive funds on Paypal from others, and I withdraw it on ATM?

Thank you.
