Usually how does the market behave when a company declares rights issue?
Will the price drop or will it rise ?

A case in point, GPacket has recently declare rights issue, but seeing from the response, I've seen the price continues to rise, it is as if the investors do want to take up the rights issue and have confident in the market. Can anyone elaborate?

China is buying US Notes out of pure self-interest.
They have to keep Joe Public coming through the doors at Walmart to buy plastic tat to help their exports recover.

Cherroy - our esteemed Moderator - is the guy to ask on rights issues.

If you scroll back a few dozen pages you will see his posts on this earlier today...MULPHA I think he was talking about IIRC.

Some excellent insights IMHO

From Aug 1st is nothing lah.. right now CIT is day traders game. No long term investors really want to touch this stock.
Anyone who buys this is purely for day trading or short term playing only. It is very volatile.

All "less bad". rclxms.gif

Heck, I might as well throw one or two grand in there and let it ride up since US govt not going
to let these two spoiled brats fail. brows.gif

Mostly share price will drop when RI is known/announced, because company want more money from you instead give money to you, so this is not something good news.

The share rise afterwards for GPacket or any other stocks related to RI, is more about general market trend and individual stock issue already.

In the case of Gpacket, the rights issue will be available to those who have the shares on the 2nd September. How will the price be adjusted?
Is it the same as in the case of ex-daete for dividends ?

In the last post you did write about rights issue, you said that it depends on the intention of the company to declare rights issue.
Gpacket needs more capital for expansion purposes, not unlike Mulpha who said it is being used to repay debt.

Can we assume that the investor view it in a positive way, thus the share price rises because they have faith
in the management and in the likely possibility for the company to expand ?

Whoa! What happened? doh.gif Ok, ok.. the bulls got back some today. No big deal. biggrin.gif

Yesterday we saw the demise.. no buyers but tonight.. it was interesting indeed.
Buyers came back in scooping up tech, some financials and commodity.
Oil crept back up to $69. shakehead.gif

The most interesting thing is Tech. AAPL (Apple) got a major upgrade.
Price target raise to $250 within a year. drool.gif
Disclosure: I have some..and long since $90. Yours truly has never shorted tech. nod.gif

Oh well.. bears still got half. Let see what the rest of the week will bring. laugh.gif

Yes.. that is indeed true! People thought the recession is over.. they are definitely wrong!
They haven't seen the worse yet. The next dip will be even worse. Don't expect recovery anytime soon.

Just as they thought they're safe, the market will pull the rug under them and make them look like idiots. nod.gif
